Biography

The War Doves emerged as a fourpiece band, not realizing the kind of song writing 'freakout' their early gatherings would ensue. This Band uses your traditional 2 electric guitars, drums and bass to convey simple musical ideas with the complexities of blood and sweat soaked arrangements, timbres, aesthetics. The War Doves combine violently different worlds in strikingly coherent and sensitive ways. Lyrically coated with as Much Friedrich Nietzsche as it is with the perils of someone that constantly chooses to take the modest route in life, The War Doves lyrics have a tinge of bitterness mixed with objective self awareness and positive knowledge. TWD's (The War Doves) Discuss topics and themes from bad break-ups, to buddhist philosophy, to global warming, energy policy and the boom/bust housing market. The War Doves have been told they resemble the best aspects of the past 20 years of indie-rock history combing organic 'live in a room' sounds, percussion and energy, with tonal and precise electricity conducting instruments. Taking music in its rawest sense and arranging it in ways that gives a soundbite to hard work and steadfastness (something the music industry is lacking these days) TWD's strip off the fat from contemporaries like 'Band of Horses' and 'Wintersleep', and add a dash of classic 'Kinks' and 'Sunny Day Real Estate', with an even more reserved portion of modern heavy weights 'Radiohead' and 'Queen's of the Stone Age'. This band can sing you to sleep with an acoustic guitar as well as rock you through the doors of the nearest bar. The War Doves are apart of a growing network of guitar totting rockers that craft heartfelt tunes with a bit of a purpose. Surviving the cold winters of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada only to relish in the dry dusty summers, this four-piece are equally as catchy and 'riffy' as they are intelligible and vocally captivating. They've recorded 11 songs that are currently being mixed by Jace Lasek of the Besnard Lakes (jagjaguwar) on the same record console that mixed Led Zepplin. Having shared the stage with such acts as 'Black Mountain', and 'Cut Off Your Hands', and having toured with 'Fucked Up' - Matador Records, The War Doves 'clans' are prepared to break you out of your personal Jail cell one show, one record at a time!

The Story Of The War Dove

Written By: The War Doves

The War Dove stands alone a perfect sphere of influence, a well rounded woman (Cigarettes & Hips), a universe with cosmos that will never stop learning the way. Greatness, goodness, reality, and self-permitted constraint, a present ego, and emphasis on the importance of place and style. Aware of the historical norm and willing to change it, The War Dove flies with graphs and references on the tip of her beak, wearing her flag, sharing her fortune. The wind is all she needs to sail, any wind, any tale. It is against this page The War Dove scrolls, her polymorphous and undying tale of a total-field view. Forks in the road do appear and in tribute to these chance-choice confrontations (839), The War Dove wears black and white. But the notion of evil does not exist here, it is merely an invention of the distracted and weak. Discipline and information direct this project through self-energetics and martial carriers, carving out an aesthetic reminiscent of 1000 ballerina's performing synchronized Kung Fu in white gowns. Through the contrast of 'Black and White' this Dionysian joy stands proudly and fluidly, knowing a strong quietness must prevail, whispering to itself in between the flap of her beautiful wings 'the remnants of lost civilizations' (The Real Thing). Through wine and spirit, we plug our amplifiers in; the high of motion based cellular energy adapts and reinvents the wheels that we carry ourselves on. Employing stereotypes that convince you, you have heard this before and employing a matching theory for every action. The War Dove marches as she flies casually, twice as slow and twice as honest, a pre-Empire bird that smiles from above (Clans). Get out your binoculars sir and madam, and disrobe the raw beauty of the music of The War Doves.

The Real Thing

Written By: The War Doves

You drew a massive audience turned incredible silence. Watched citizens of violence, runs words of sirens. A buffalo jump of meaning, a suicide of words. Colonialism sun, far from me, I can feel you.

But no ones watching in here - we’re all so certainly clear.

The environmental crisis will eventually disappear, the environmental crisis will ease our despair.

Blue collars put up their collars work up a storm in small numbers. Upper class urban slum lords make a killing on the Calgary basis. Tree planters plant and sleep in small fortresses, they’re urban. Painting their faces, winning human races.

There's nothing better than the real thing.

I'll walk alone, swim the seas. I'll blaze a path, and clear the trees.

I'll walk alone, swim the seas. I'll blaze a path, clear the trees. I'll find a ghost to haunt you in your life, to remind you.

Sat outside and threw some stones, call you out with dulcet tones. Break a window to set you free. To waste three years, you be you, and I'll be me.

Sex and vices, I'll preserve you your crown. You lied to me, like you lay down.

Sat outside and threw some stones, call you out with dulcet tones. Break a window to set you free. To waste three years, you be you, and I'll be me.

Cigarettes & Hips

Written By: The War Doves

Light that smoke and I mean, be okay. Blink slowly I have gone away.

Hold your hip and I mean, be okay. Move slowly, I have passed the rain today.

I have gone away.

I'd take some pieces as I moved along. The ones I admired, those were strong.

The memories that I bargained for came with a cost. My arms went numb my legs were crossed.

I have gone away.

It's never worth, a wasted sun, we are both good. It's never worth a wasted sun, we just came undone.
