"The Warrior Gospel Band"

Since 1993, the special vocal style of The Warrior Gospel Band (TWGB) has pleased lovers of folk and Gospel music in and around Austin, Texas. The exciting sounds of this close knit group draw upon the historical Gospel Quartet experience in America with foot stomping and heart rendering music.
Lead by veteran guitarist Sterling Lands II, the Warrior Gospel Band performs at an energy level that transform their audiences and puts them in the middle of foot stomping, hand clapping celebration.
TWGB is made up of three generations of very talented and gifted male and female musicians and singers. All band members are involved in civic and social responsibility projects when they are not on stage performing. They have recorded several CDs and published several songs with their own very distinctive signature.
The Warrior Gospel Band is the custodian of a vocal tradition that dates back to Pre-Civil War years, where Slaves escaped the torment of the cruelty of slavery through Spiritual songs and celebration. It is a tradition that transcends Jim Crow, black codes, segregation and discrimination. The Warrior Gospel Band sings and plays folk and down home Gospel. At their best, their singing pulses with a fervor that far surpasses that takes you to another dimension.
Their down home music style reflects a facility and fervor that recalls the old school Gospel groups of the past and the spirit of a people who refuse to be broken or embittered. Their chordal patterns and powerful rhythm lifts the spirits of all who are blessed to hear them.
