Bio
Toronto indie rock band The Wave Theory rose up out of the ashes of two previous bands The Low Tides and The Cause, who patrolled the crowded Toronto music scene from 2006 to 2011.
In early 2012, Low Tides’ guitarist/vocalist Craig Bryant, keyboardist Scott Dunn and drummer Dan Hickey joined with guitarist/vocalist Michael Lawson to begin work on a number of new songs. The band was joined in the fall of 2012 by bassist/vocalist Brianna Goldberg.
The Wave Theory draws on influences from across the pop/rock music spectrum. Its sound harkens back to experimental projects from the 1960’s and 70’s but is also heavily influenced by the British and American indie scene of the 1990’s and 2000’s.
Combining these musical references results in The Wave Theory's fresh pop sound featuring catchy melodies against a backdrop of sweet vocal harmonies and eclectic soundscapes.
The band couples new technologies with traditional acoustic instruments to construct music that is contemporary yet deeply laden with streams of pop history.
The Wave Theory is in the process of recording its first full-length vinyl recording with a release date scheduled for summer 2013.
