Bio
A fireside tale of a second wind.
A group of impassioned musicians from Philadelphia.
A collection of songs that is genuine and pure.
In the summer of 2011, the founding members of hard-working Northeastern favorites, The Sobriquets, gently put to rest the band they loved. After a number of years and records together, however, they did not bid each other a fond goodbye and depart in opposite directions. Three of them set right to work on the next chapter: The Way Home.
"Amazingly pure alternative indie rock. Four part harmonies, and hooks that will make you shiver." Jeremy Hebbel & Gayle Dillman, Gable Music Ventures
Before they could turn the page, the former Sobriquets (with a new collaborator) had one thing tying them to their old lives besides each other: the album they had just finished, “On So Thin A Line”. They were so happy with this album, and with the time they had spent to make it, that to treat it as a farewell seemed wasteful and callous. Instead, they retained what they loved most about the band, and introduced new elements of spontaneity, pushing onward toward that ineffable musical idea: something more.
The new music told them to keep their roots and inspirations firmly in sight, but be ready to turn on a dime, becoming more aware of how a song feels in the moment. So, The Way Home took the spirit of “On So Thin A Line” and declared it as their starting point. Retaining their love of Americana and well-crafted songs, they breathe new life into their sound with a blend of jangly rock n’ roll, layered vocal harmonies, and fluid, expansive arrangements.
"Jangly Americana-laced power pop, urgent and straight to the point" Steve Gollnick, Hubcap
In their first year, The Way Home has travelled from Richmond, Virginia to Rochester, New York and from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Boston, Massachusetts, has headlined shows at The Legendary Dobbs, World Cafe Live, and the Tin Angel in their Philadelphia hometown, and has shared the stage with a wide array of up-and-comers, including The Dreamscapes Project (DC), The Hawkeyes (Pittsburgh), Tallahassee (Boston), and Venice Sunlight (Philadelphia).
The Way Home is comfortable and familiar like a well-worn coat, and exhilarating like discovering something life-changing on late-night radio. Their music will embrace you with a fond memory and surprise you with a new take on the age-old craft of songwriting.

Life moves fast, things don’t always stay the same, and there are times when a memory can seem so far away. The Way Home helps you recall what music used to feel like, and allows you to experience that feeling again from your new place in life. That is The Way Home.
This is The Way Home.
