Bio

It was April 2009 when a couple friends were catching up during the twisting seasons. Outside in the carport they discussed old times with slurred stories in a cloud of cigarette smoke against the brick wall. On the torn and taped second-hand couch, they began their journey. Just like the the victims of any small town, they had their nose to the ground. Within the month, the two began to make noise and churned out tunes like they used to until their breathes fogged the windows of the chilled spare room, playing the old punk rock records and their own brand of song and sweat, but things were different now...
Those bands and memories were dead. People were gone to school becoming lawyers, doctors and business men. Being older with their horizons broadened to the point of overlap, they made a phone call to another friend. The practices were loud, proud and soon brought their friends, neighbors and police to the door. It wasn't until a quiet trip to the living room to grab a beer that an acoustic guitar proved the point.
They took the bones of the newly found ballads and whiskey soaked anthems into a low lit room to chug away as a three piece. After word of mouth from visiting friends and new roommates, they had become a living, breathing, drinking and cussing band from Greenwood, SC. With their southern enfluenced style, the Weathers tell the dirty, but honest, stories of the working man. Everything from love, lose, lonliness and mentally crippling heart break spills over the lips of, now 24-year old, singer/songwriter, Bart Hanna.
Bringing the skeletons of those stories to be dressed in dusty denim and tattoos, Bart lets the band (Jamie Brown, Austin Landers and Steven Cathcart) pound the chest of each verse until the songs wake ready to leave a raw, ringing sound in the ears of their friends and followers. Americana styled acoustic ryhthms lying under the pop sensable electric swell of melody and lung-topped lyric are backed by the weight of heavily kicked drum and bass. The band has been said to take influence from veteran rockers like Wilco, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Drive-By Truckers, and more recent marvels like Against Me!, Band of Horses, Lucero and Kings of Leon. The Weathers are hard hitters to say the least, and they are looking for you.
The band released their first EP with original lead guitarist, Charles Mc Abee, in the Fall of 2009. At this point, the Weathers were crowding the bars, living rooms and the stage with a five piece unit. Unfortunately, early in the next year, Mc Abee made his departure to seek his own interests. After months of drunken discussion and going damn near broke from lack of desire, performance, women and the late shift, the band began to weld themselves back together only to continue after the original idea. Back in the saddle with the sunrise ahead, the Weathers continue to chase shows in the southeastern region and plan to take it on the road by the new year.
