Bio

After serving as the drummer for local indie groups Luxembourg and Pemberley, Drew Cox was searching for a new mode of artistic expression. He procured a vintage Hammond drum machine and began writing material. One week alone with his instruments and a digital recorder produced six songs unlike anything he'd played or written before. Immediately, he scheduled a show Feburary 3rd 2006, at Lillian's in Lakeland. With multiple guitar parts and ques on the drum machine, he knew he couldn't perform alone. Time began to wear down and he hadn't found another bandmate.

Enter David Carmichael. One week before the show, Drew and Dave arranged the songs for the set list and began learning and adding parts. With the addition of some exquisite harmonica work, they were both pleased with the sound. The show, which at midnight, was also Drew's birthday turned out to be a huge success.

After playing the show, The Wedding Party began playing all the local venues in Lakeland including multiple shows at the historic Polk Theatre. They were given another drum machine (this one a Roland) donated by none other than Aaron Marsh of Copeland. Shortly thereafter, the original Hammond drum machine went mysteriously missing after a gig. Soldiering on, they programmed their new drum machine to cover all the songs. It wasn't long before the Roland went missing as well. Playing acoustic shows just wasn't the same.

Drew and Dave made the decision that it was time to go full band.

Recruiting ex-Luxembourg bandmate, George Brinkley, The Wedding Party had a bassman fresh off the breaks of legendary group, The Callahans. George and Drew both had a history playing shows across Florida together with Luxembourg, and were no strangers to venues like Backbooth, The Social, The Masquerade, and the like. Then Drew picked up the phone and called an old high-school friend, Ryan Palm. Ryan and Drew both marched in high school drumline together and had played together on occasion, including a show at the Florida State Fair in Orlando.

Their merger culminated for their first full band show, a one year anniversary show at Lillian's in Lakeland, Feburary 3rd 2007. The fans enjoyed the fuller sound and new faces in the line-up.

Now, The Wedding Party is gearing up for a 4-song EP to be recorded by mix-genius Jared Wynne, already ripe from producing and laying down 2 albums for Tallahassee's Look Mexico and Lakeland's The Dark Romantics. In addition, they're searching for venues outside of Lakeland to start building a larger fan base.
