This ensemble of traditional Blues was born on Sunday, the 30th of September in the rusty old city of Caracas on the west side where the ancient winds have made their rippling mark on the cement that once constituted its well-known streets. A group of argumentative professional musicians, lovers of jazz and the blues, came together in their latest and greatest formation, rising above all the rest

Influences of the West Blues Band are bands and musicians such as The Doors, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Robert Johnson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bonnie Raitt, Eric Clapton, John Mayall, BB King, Koko Taylor, Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Robert Cray, Otis Rush, Edgar & Johnny Winter, Lou Rawls, Humbert Sulim, among others.

These musicians have shown their performance in their efforts to make a new way for the blues. In a short time they earned a major radio interview on Urban Art Radio on September 8, 2006 as an independent band of original Blues in Venezuela.

In October 2006, flautist Eduardo Davila, a great friend of the band, spoke of the Blues project with the curators of the art gallery in the Banco Industrial de Venezuela, and helped secure the band's first concert and a review in the Venezuelan magazine Arte, distributed in Venezuela, Argentina and Spain.

In 2007 they were invited to participate in the Blues Forum which took place in the Museo del Teclado in Caracas, alongside the distinguished radio personality and renowned Blues researcher Alfredo Escalante.

Recently, the band has performed in various venues and festivals in the capital city, such as la Cigarra, NVV, and a special benefit for the foundation Narcotics Anonymous.

WEST BLUES BAND

Este ensamble de Blues tradicional, nace el día Domingo 30de Septiembre en la ciudad mohosa de Caracas, en su lado Oeste donde el muy antiguo viento se encarga de encarar las enmarcadas arrugas del mortero que alguna vez constituyeron sus bien conocidas calles. Un Grupo de músicos aficionados a discutir, profesionales del blues y el Jazz se unen en el que será su ultimo y gran encuentro derrochando lo mejor de todos y cada uno de ellos. Su Fundador Edwin Márquez, guitarrista y compositor destacado por su pasión y ferviente investigación sobre los distintos estilos del Blues tradicional. Carlos Álvarez, quien seria sustituido por Jorge Acevedo, bajista y compositor reconocido en Venezuela, a desarrollado performance en los mejores sitios de la ciudad acompañado siempre de músicos de primera talla. Ángel Villaroel, profesor de música egresado de la Escuela Josa Ángel Lamas, profesor del proyecto Yamaha en Venezuela, además de ser conocido en el mundo del Jazz y Blues venezolano. Y el Vocalista profesional Romel Correa conocido por la versatilidad de su voz y de los géneros musicales en los que ha incursionado.

Estos Músicos han mostrado su performance en su empeño en trabajar una nueva forma para el blues, le hizo ganarse en muy corto tiempo una importante entrevista radial como lo fuera en Arte Urbano Radio como una banda de Blues independiente con temas originales en Venezuela, programa que fuera trasmitido el día ocho (8) de Septiembre (9) del año 2006

Para el mes de Octubre del año 2006 el Flautista Eduardo Dávila, gran amigo de la banda; converso sobre este proyecto de Blues con la directiva de la sala de Arte del Banco Industrial, logrando de esta manera el primer concierto de la banda y una reseña para una revista de Arte Editada en Venezuela y en reproducida en Argentina y España

Para el año 2007 fueron invitados a participar como ponentes en el foro de Blues que se realizara en el Museo del Teclado ubicado en Caracas, esta ponencia fue Realizada Junto al distinguido Locutor y la figura mas representativa de la investigación del blues en Venezuela el Sr. Alfredo Escalante
Posteriormente la Banda a realizado presentaciones en diferentes locales y festivales de Blues en la Ciudad Capital, como en la Cigarra, NVV, y un evento especial a beneficio de la Fundación Narcóticos Anónimos.
