Bio

The Wheelies

The Wheelies were dreamed up on a cold October night back in 2001 by the infamous, ineffable and almost certainly inebriated Papa Wheelie. "Papa" had a vision of bringing together some newcomers to New York City, some boys looking for direction in this mad world, and putting them on the path towards righteousness: the path of ROCK.

He brought together 3 boys with diverse individual talents and quickly demonstrated to them their collective capacity to rock your socks off. He then promptly vanished. Eben Wheelie (bass), Hutch Wheelie (guitar), and Mat Wheelie (skins) began to write songs under a Chinatown noodle factory, although they would eventually move to Williamsburg in Brooklyn. By May of 2002 the trio was breaking their teeth on Bleecker street, performing often at The Elbow Room, Lions Den and Kenny's Castaways. During the winter of 2002 they had moved up the street to headlining at classic indie rock venue CBGBs, and had earned mention in The Village Voice, who describe The Wheelies sound as "dynamic rock and roll that flows smoothly from melodic verses to raw explosions of sound."

The Wheelies would concur, adding that they . . . "totally fucking wail."

Lately the Wheelies have taken to the road, playing weekends along the east coast while returning home to New York often to work on their upcoming EP entitled "HA!" The boys are quite proud to have worked with the Mighty Max Feldman (producer/engineer) who has mixed live concerts from rockers like Eric Clapton, Phish, U2 and most recently Radiohead's 2$Bill show for MTV. (It is widely believed that Papa Wheelie has been using his voodoo powers to convince Max to lend his expertise).

After headlining at Luna Lounge in Manhattan this July, the Wheelies are headed south to Richmond, VA and Charlotte, NC where they will continue to Rock.
