Bio

When The Diableros broke up in 2010, singer Pete Carmichael and drummer Mike Duffield decided to start a recording project together. Pete spent the following winter making demos in their shared basement. In the Spring of 2011, he picked up his old friend and former Another Blue Door bandmate, Steve Krecklo, from Pearson Airport. Krecklo asked if Pete was planning on recording anything new and suggested they make proper demos with a full band at the studio he was working at. In June 2011, the first demo was made with another old friend, James Robertson, stepping in on lead guitar. The session went well and over drinks at the pub Pete works at afterwards, the assembled cast collectively decided to become a band. The Whirly Birds began playing live in 2012, recruited keyboardist Jay Lemak from the recently defunct Action Makes and started working on their debut album by the end of the year. 2013 promises to see its release, with digital singles arriving before each live show at the-whirly-birds.bandcamp.com
