I get emails about Whiskey River Band all the time – they are a busy, busy working band! These six hard-core Southern rockers are the real deal. When you listen to them, you hear influences of Ronnie-era Skynyrd, Blackfoot and interestingly enough, a feel of Bon Jovi. The lead singer sounds a lot like Jon Bon Jovi and is packed with skills. And yet, they are from southern New England!!
You know they’re in touch with Dixie with songs like, “Southern By The Grace of God” and “Mama Don’t Go 4 Dat”. If you get to see them live, they’ll mix originals with great Southern rock/classic rock covers from Skynyrd, The Band, J Geils Band, The Eagles, Marshall Tucker Band, The Allman Bros. and more.
They’ve opened for A-List acts like The Outlaws, .38 Special, Mountain, Molly Hatchet, and lots of others. This summer, they’ll be opening for Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Doobie Brothers! And sadly, just like Lynyrd Skynyrd, they lost one of their members to an untimely death.

Bio
Founded in 1987, The Whiskey River Band is an original Connecticut band, playing what they call "the finest Southern Rock north of Dixie." Texas-born vocalist Tom McLear's style has been described as "Jon Bon Jovi meets Ronnie Van Zant." They were 4-time winners of The New Haven Advocate's (CT A&E paper) "Best Of" for Southern Rock/Country music - by enough of a landslide to cause them to retire the category for several years. Although they primarily play Southern and Classic Rock, they also incorporate Blues, Funk and Soul into their sets. Over their 20 year career, they've shared the stage with bands like Charlie Daniels, The Outlaws, .38 Special, Johnny Winter, Marshall Tucker, Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Doobie Brothers.
