"ALT. ROCKERS, THE WHITE FLAGS, TO RELEASE ALBUM WITH PRODUCTION BY GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING & 2012 ASCAP R&B/HIP-HOP SONG OF THE YEAR WINNER, HAPPY PEREZ"

Houston, Texas
Since the birth of The White Flags in mid 2011, these four guys have stimulated crowds and venue owners with material that's inventive but familiar, ambitious but unassuming, raw but somehow very highly refined. All of this has been pared down and concentrated into a tasty 42-minute meal, full of sophisticated stories, lush guitar-driven melodies, dance-inspiring synth layers, and raw, heart-on-sleeve vocals.

On the heels of this weekend's huge ASCAP win in LA for co-producer Happy Perez, The White Flags are excited to announce its freshman album, HOUSE ON FIRE, will be released/made available everywhere on July 27, 2012.

The music is making a fast acquaintance with fans of The Killers, Kings Of Leon, and U2; but Happy Perez's noticeable contributions kick the gates wide open to welcome new fans who normally flock to other genres. "When I finally sat down with Hap to hear what he cooked up for "Salvation" I lost my breath for a second. It was huge, cinematic. It's a stadium song without a doubt. It's our favorite show closer and it never fails to get a ridiculous roar from the crowd." -Seth Perez (lead singer/founder). The first single is slated to go live 2 weeks prior to HOUSE ON FIRE's official release date.

The White Flags keep a light heart and have tons of laughs, but the four members (Seth, Cates, Ricardo, and Justin) are laser focused and competitive. They're in it for the long run, willing to sacrifice, and ready to work this industry inside-out.

THE WHITE FLAGS are determined to make quick work of becoming the south’s new darlings of alternative rock…glossy & crafty, purposeful & raw. Just like hometown Houston. These guys are ambitious and white knuckle all the way.

“The music is catchy enough that fans of The Killers flock to it and timeless enough that fans of U2 are intoxicated by it.”

While the band is carving out new frontier in the landscape of alt rock, the emotive and raw vocals are drawing comparison to Kings Of Leon and the driving guitar lines and infectious melodies are being dubbed U2-esque.

"THE WHITE FLAGS unapologetically command the stage every time with arena-sized grandeur and hometown southern charm."

Seth (lead vocals) had been cutting his teeth by touring for a couple of years with America’s largest church while looking for the right people to finish his solo project with. Cates (bass), a stage producer for the same church (Lakewood, Joel Osteen), got commissioned first. From the first session they both knew they had something they could take all the way. Justin (lead guitar) was brought in and immediately impacted the soundscape possibilities. Ricardo (drums), a Berklee alum and multi-instrumentalist, eventually found himself locked-in as the fulltime drummer; thus giving rise to what Perez coined “THE WHITE FLAGS”, paying homage to a line from CS Lewis’ novel The Great Divorce.

Early on, the band had live opportunities bubbling up so fast they didn’t even have enough original material to finish a set with. They drew from some of their favorite influences to get through the nights, bands like Miike Snow and Phantogram. Says Perez, “Having to pull covers from bands we identified with really helped shape a lot of the sound of this first album. The reaction from the crowds let us know those songs looked really good on us and thank God, it’s some of our favorite stuff to play.” It’s the happy accidents that sometimes shape a great project. Thankfully, the boys now have a full show’s worth of songs (though they still pop in a tasteful cover now and again for fun). “Cool thing is we get the same big rowdy applause after our songs as we do when we finish our Phantogram cover of ‘When I’m Small.’ That’s nice because people will let you know what they love and what they hate. Man, we’re doing something right. It’s exciting,” Justin.

THE WHITE FLAGS released their freshman album, House On Fire, (Summer 2012). It touts co-production and mixing by Grammy award winner Happy Perez (American Idol, Ryan Tedder, Kanye West, Miguel).
