TWJ All Day
by Kalani Wilhelm | Sep 19, 2012

In their pursuit of music salvation, alternative rockers The White Jacket intend to push your state of mind to the brink.

Hard Rock Cafe Waikiki will serve as host to the slick rocker’s album release concert party Saturday night as the up and coming group hash out the tunes to celebrate their debut album 5,000 Miles From High St., a collection of 10 spanking good original songs.

A favorite among the raging pool of rock bands that make up the islands’ ever-growing indie music scene, the quintet comprised of Elton Dubois, Brandon Patrick, Joe Baiera, Rocky Freitas and Dustin Dobos have an amped and devoted following.

Their song, “New Beginnings,” recently hit radio airwaves and, along with the album’s release, the band, whose members are originally from Hawaii, Ohio and Washington, will celebrate two years together next month. Busekrus and Virgin Mary complete the all-out rock bash.

Time to salvage the sound, thrive and come alive.

Bio

The White Jacket is an American rock band from Honolulu, Hawaii. As songwriters they draw influence from the likes of Incubus, 311, Muse and Rage Against the Machine to name a few. As evidenced by their debut album, however, the band is clearly forging a distinctive sound rooted in thick, driving rock guitars, cohesive, radio-ready song structuring and strong, melodic vocals.
The band was formed in 2010 by vocalist Joe Baiera and guitarist Dustin Dobos, long-time friends and musical collaborators who relocated to Hawaii from their home state of Ohio earlier that year. Bassist Rockland Freitas, born and raised in Hawaii, was first to join their ranks. Within weeks, guitarist Elton DuBois, also from Ohio, and drummer Brandon Patrick from Tennessee were asked to join the band after a series of highly successful rehearsals together.
Despite having formed only two years ago, The White Jacket has already performed on some of Oahu’s biggest stages. In September, the band was asked to open for Chevelle at Honolulu’s newest venue The Republik, playing to a sold-out crowd of rowdy hard-rock fans.
Just a week later the band performed at Hard Rock Café Honolulu for the official release of their self-produced debut album ‘5,000 Miles From High St,’ which the Honolulu Weekly called “… a collection of 10 spanking good original songs.” The publication also went on to say “A favorite among the raging pool of rock bands that make up the island’s ever-growing indie music scene, the quintet have an amped and devoted following.”
Though the band currently resides in Honolulu, Hawaii, their aspirations reach far beyond the beautiful shores of their hometown. Realizing that exposure is limited in such an isolated locale, they hope to take their talents to the mainland to tour the US while simultaneously producing follow-up albums to the already successful ‘5,000 Miles’ disc. Looking ever forward, onward and upward, The White Jacket have their sights set on commercial success across the US.
