Bio

"...how can you sleep? there's a fire in the street, and i'm twenty bottles deep in a lush, lucid dream..." "...in old Wedowee, water runs flowing, into a backyard, kudzu runs growing. He cradles anger, she cracks a knuckle. The children grow up, fast as honeysuckle..." "...could you reach up and grab the lightning bolt? from when God took the notion and forthwith smote the church bells with old graffiti, thus he wrote: 'I'm still here'..." "...i'd fallen asleep at the wheel. I could hear you calling but i don't know how you feel sometimes. but when the moment is right, you're pleasing me with fractals of abiding light..." "...i see your laughter brings you to the floor. That's okay, i know what faith is for..." THE WHITE OAKS sing songs about life, death, love, dreams, god, the sea, and the end of the world. The four members have played music all their lives, together or separately. THE WHITE OAKS have been profiled on "Tapestry," a local arts and culture radio program, as well as in the City Scene magazine in the Birmingham news, and songs from their self-titled e.p. have been featured on Birmingham's own nationally syndicated radio show, Reg's Coffeehouse. The band recently collaborated on a short film with L.C. Crowley which was accepted into the Sidewalk Film Festival.
