"the band has proven themselves to be one of Boston's boldest, original rock acts on their latest album 'way back down'. Think U2 with a female front person, that's what the band deals up"
- Metronome Magazine

‘Emotion pours from the speakers on every song. The band shows a very high level of songcraft that is rare, RUTH has the goods.’ -

When does a CD occupy more than your stereo? Its songs echo through your daily routine and seem embedded in all that you do. That has happened for me a number of times in my life. Albums by Sarah McLachlan and Tracy Chapman are among the few that have become identifiable with a particular time in my life.

Way Back Down is more than a collection of songs. The record serves as both a signpost for the present and as a reminder that greatness is something that isn't necessarily produced in million dollar studios or picked by the music industry's A&R sleaze. It's not a formula or a plan, its hard work married to creative ability at the right moment.

This moment belongs to the trio lead by vocalist Ruth Peterson with brothers Todd and Matt Russell on guitar and drums. Haunting, melodic, intricate, and original, Way Back Down is set to serve as the launching pad for the one the greatest bands in the history of Boston music.

the wild sea is a new brand new band out of Boston formed of the core members of amusia and ruth. The trio is now joined by Phil Aiken-touring keyboardist for Buffalo Tom/Bill Janovitz/Lemonheads, Matt Tahaney bassist of Bill Janovitz Crown Victoria, and Frank Moratta Jr guitarist of Ann Heaton.

Nashville's Ruth Peterson and brothers Matt & Todd Russell have been bringing their own sound to the Boston Pop scene since 2000, sharing the stage with acts Buffalo Tom, Kay Hanley (Letters to Cleo), Will Dailey, and Loveless, to name a few. The wild sea is currently recording a new release for Fall 2008.

In 2005, Amusia released 'Way Back Down', produced by Matt Russell, mixed by Matt Russell and Tom Polce (CBS Records). Though the album was released under the band name Amusia, it was the catalyst for the name change to RUTH as for the first time the focus came entirely from Ruth, Matt, and Todd. In late 2006 RUTH began recording a new CD "On Every Road."

2007 had a rough beginning as singer Ruth was diagnosed with cancer. After undergoing major surgery and 7 months of chemo treatments she is is excited to be singing again. The band is currently recording a new release for Fall 2009.
