Bio

The Willows are a DIY band raised in the southern Indiana metropolis of Evansville. Formed in February 2006, the four-piece spent their high school days developing a modern blend of emo and indie rock influenced by fellow Evansville natives, Mock Orange, and the likes of Brand New, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Sigur Rós. Their first EP, The Year We Grew Our Faces, was recorded and released in 2008. It was well received by the local college radio scene, snagging airtime on several stations. Feeling that the EP did not capture the true essence of The Willows, the band set out to self-record and produce their debut full-length.

After two years of recording friend’s bands, writing new music, and playing shows, the band spent the summer following their high school graduation recording, mixing and preparing the greatest piece of art they had ever conceived. Believing in an individual approach not only to the music, but also to the recording process and album artwork of a record, they sought to be involved in every stage of the production process. The resulting album, Sometimes I'm Ancient, was released in November 2010.

In their five-year run, The Willows have shared the stage with bands such as Colour Revolt (Dualtone), Pomegranates (Afternoon/Lujo), Winston Audio (Favorite Gentlemen), Ocean is Theory (Razor & Tie), Cool Hand Luke (Lujo), and The Forecast (Victory Records).
