Bio

Let's travel back 5 years in time. In cold, isolated northern maine the band Closure was making a break for relative local success. Filling local clubs, self-booking and promoting local shows for themselves and other fledgling local acts, Closure was definitely on a roll. Although something just wasn't right.
"I always felt I had side of my musical vision I wanted to share with people, so i started an acoustic side project after i went through a deeply emotional, summer romance" says singer/songwriter B.L. LaCombe. "it was also about this time, that emotionally i really felt like i needed a new persepective on life, and escape the secluded confines of Northern Maine. So, on a whim i joined the U.S. Navy. Then being stationed in Sunny Southern Spain, i went about 2 years without writing a thing. I Felt I had lost all musical ambitions and that part of my life was over." says Lacombe.
Now fast forward to February 2006, and the new media wonder called MySpace reaches Lacombe. "one day, pretty much out of boredom I posted one demo I made back before i enlisted in the military, a bittersweet song about love lost and self-doubt, called "Summer" about that profound relationship, when I first realized The Winter Final". With a breathy conversational tone, Lacombe sings as if he's telling a secret he wants only you to hear. Comparable to bands such as Dashboard Confessional, Howie Day, and David Gray, The Winter Final is currently writing material for its self-produced debut album "The Drowning Of David Melvoin", which Lacombe states will be available by mid-summer 06, on its Myspace homepage, and its own thewinterfinal.com.
" I had no idea my demo was going to produce much reaction at all" states Lacombe, but by self promotion, through MySpace, and spreading the word all over the states and asking its fans to spread the word themselves, The Winter Finals page logged nearly 1500 visits in its first week and a half online. Also, gathering over 400 fans akin to the musical vision Lacombe was trying to produce. Essential a solo act, Lacombe plays all instruments himself with cameo spots by musical aquaintances of his, The Winter Final employs a band of great musicians to back Lacombe up on the road. " im looking forward to finishing my military enlistment and hitting the road in the next couple years, with hopefully a few records under my belt and enough of a solid fan base, to tour and show my complete musical ambitions to those who support me now" Lacombe says.
On a last note, all we can all do is hold tight, and wait till this summer for the first album from The Winter Final, and remember those instances that we felt those same deep torrid emotions and rejoice that we are not alone. - Mar. 11, 2006

Influenced by artists such as Howie Day, Dashboard Confessional, Sufjan Stevens, David Gray, Spoon, Belle and Sebastian and countless others. The Winter Final is driven primarily by singer/songwriter B.L. LaCombe using a loop sampling technique, layering different sounds upon eachother creating a full band enviornment.
