"Columbus Alive | March 10th 2004"

Swimming with Angels
Oldfield’s on High
Friday, March 12

Following the traditions of their Midwestern indie-rock forefathers, this Cleveland-area trio fuses drifting guitar melodies with understated, heartfelt vocals. Sounding more than a little like Ohio’s own Guided by Voices, the band is masterful of their instruments while maintaining a lo-fi raw sound on their self-titled EP (Cellar Door). The twangy guitar intro to “Daisy” is delightful and reminiscent of the Shins’ “Chutes Too Narrow.” Vocalist and songwriter Justin Markert stays true to classic indie-love song themes.
