Bio

”I’ve been rockin’ and rollin’ since the day I was born…” (The Winyls: Rock Motor)
The Winyls states clearly, that honest Rock 'n Roll is still alive and well.
The band strikes you with pure rockin' vibes, sounds and attitude.

“The Winyls” is a heart-breaking story about five childhood mates who ended up in Liverpool
and decided to form a band. An ideal start for a band aiming for “mild success”
in the beginning of 1960s, but a weird thing to do in year 2000.
However, “more pints with lesser education” was still the policy.
But, the policy worked out (in a way)! The band was allowed to play at the Cavern Club.
The feeling was surreal and the manager was pleased!

First single “Let’s Sing” was released in March 2005 and went straight to the Top-5 in
official Finnish single chart and stayed there for several weeks.
This happened in a country where English-language roots orientated rock ‘n’ roll music
has not been a dominant chart force after 1970s.

The single “Let’s Sing” was highly acclaimed, including frequent playing in the radio
and video rotation in the national TV channels. This was partly due to the gentle Swedish
production for the song at the famous Tambourine Studios, Malmö.

After heavy promotion in Finnish media the debut album “Rock Motor” was released in May 2005.
It divided opinions, some were “shocking” and some were praising!
However, the band is currently working and recording new material for the second album,
and like the frontman Leady Winyl would describe it:
Ya gonna rock your socks off and lose some weight!"

The concerts are an essential part of the Winyls, the band has gained huge success as a energetic
live act. “Every gig is a new opportunity to hurt myself”, says Leady.
“We rock like there's no tomorrow and that is how it should be! “

The Winyls are:
