The Wittchen Initiative

The Wittchen Initiative

Ever wondered what Folsom Prison Blues sounds like when kick-ass vocals meet the accompaniment of two harps and tuba? Sometimes you don't realize you're missing something in your life until you hear it. The Wittchen Initiative is one of those things.

The Wittchen Initiative, comprised of Andrea (harp), Samantha (harp) and Alexandra (voice) Wittchen, and Dan Nosheny (tuba, trombone and percussion), is on a mission to surprise audiences by the harp's versatility beyond traditional music genres.

The group debuted in early 2008, with creative arrangements that ran the gamut from jazz standards to country to pop and hard rock. I mean, when was the last time you heard Radiohead performed on two harps?

The band released its first CD in November 2009. Currently, they’re working on writing and arranging more songs that can spark a revolution in what the harp can deliver – acoustically, amplified, altered, they’re willing to experiment while delivering an exciting audience experience.

With Alexandra’s extraordinary voice and engaging stage persona, Andrea and Samantha’s virtuoso technique and creative arrangements and Dan’s versatile low brass accompaniments(and solos!), this is one group that really must be heard to be appreciated. It’s like nothing else out there.

Sometimes you don't know you're missing something in your life until you hear it. This might just be one of those things.
