Bio

The Wood Burning Savages are a supercharged alternative rock outfit from Derry with the music, energy, and vigour to set any venue ablaze. Young, witty, and full of confidence, their impassioned honesty and sonic alchemy make them a band you need to hear.

They burst onto the live scene in early 2012, having spent the six weeks previous in a farmhouse garage on the Irish border just outside of Derry. Since then they have constructed a formidable and supremely energetic catalogue of songs, regularly played as main support to a variety of established Irish acts including The Hot Sprockets, The Mighty Stef, ASIWYFA and Little Bear.  The band have also garnered praise from AU Magazine's live reviewers and been played often on several BBC Radio Ulster programmes and Dave Fanning's RT 2FM show.

Their live performances have been a talking point - eclectic sets involving powerful vocals, 60's fuzz guitar hooks, and an explosive rhythm section. Summer 2013 saw the band dazzling audiences on the Irish festival circuit including a prestigious slot on Glasgowbury's main stage. With a full length release in the pre-production stages and having just released their debut single 'America' to a fantastic response, expect great things from the band as they move through 2014.

"...just had my head blown off by the awesome Wood Burning Savages. Recordings to date don't even BEGIN to convey their live firepower." - Tom Robinson, BBC Radio 6 Music.

"Great new band from the North" - Dave Fanning, RTE 2FM.

"The Wood Burning Savages mix snarling, bloodlust rock n roll archetypes with gloriously incongruous and wildly inventive melodic ideas. A passionate one-off!" - Stephen McCauley, BBC Radio Ulster

"Dark, properly engaging" - The Daily Mirror
