"So many awesome melodies"

Time for a brand new band to the show this week, we go to Manchester for this band, they’re called The Words they’ve got an album out called Truth & Faith. This track I’m going to play you is a more chilled out song really on the album which is quite upbeat, quite spikey indie. I chose this song (Demons) because there are so many awesome melodies in it and so many nice textures and I think it’s a nice it serves as a good introduction to the band if you’ve never heard them before. - Alex Baker, Kerrang Radio

"A real band with songs of genuine quality"

"The Words are sneaky fuckers, lots of little riffs, fills and even techie touches decorating the mixes. The Words really are a proper band, that’s stressed because we get so few of them, it’s easy to slap the word ‘The’ in front of a random noun, get some unfeasible haircuts and whine over a backbeat for three minutes and we have shedloads of that, but… The Words are a real band, a real band with songs of genuine quality, songs that probably didn’t start life as even ‘passable’, but songs that, having gone through the real band process, emerge as excellent, compelling, honed, but still fresh or raw." - Unpeeled.net

"One of the best albums I've heard all year"

"Truth And Faith” by The Words is “One of the best albums I’ve heard all year. Smart, gutsy, catchy and all the other dwarves! Eat your f***in heart out Alex Turner!” " - Ade, TunAtheDay

"Witty, eloquent and blessed"

"Witty, eloquent and blessed with a rare sense of melody, Mancunian indie quartet The Words are destined to spread their musical message far beyond the British Isles. After starring on not one, but two Mercedes-Benz Mixed Tape compilations, they are now set to release their first full-length release, Truth & Faith, a rare aural blend of infectious riffs, happy hooks, clever song-writing and a generous nod to Manchester’s seminal sound." - Mercedes-Benz

"Absolutely Storming"

"Talk about high octane you can see how that must be absolutely storming in terms of a live set closer and the secret as ever is in the drummer, when you’ve got a drummer who is right on the money and nails it down the rest of the band locks into place and that’s what you get" - Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music

"Great energy, great sound!"

"WOW! Great energy, great sound! I like the raw vocals that don't seem to be trying too hard. It's a spunky track. Nice instrumentation. Sounds like they're loving what they're doing, and i love a good "woah" in the middle of a song! I'd play it! Playing live in Brum soon??!" - Emma Scott

Bio

The Words are a 4 piece indie rock band based in Manchester who are developing an exciting reputation as one of the top up and coming bands in the country by combining an incredible passion for music with the ability to create ‘music for the masses’.

Drawing on an enormous range of influences from David Bowie through to The Strokes, The Words have managed to create their own unique style of music that both entertains and excites.

The Words have opened the Incoming Festival at The Fly in London, supported The Stranglers at the Wyeside Music Festival, played at Sound City Festival in Liverpool as well as playing top venues around the country including Proud Galleries, The Cavern Club and appearing many times at various Manchester Academy venues. The Words biggest gig to date was at the Stuttgarter Sternstunden festival playing infront of 40,000 fans supporting 30 Seconds to Mars and Placebo in Stuttgart city centre celebrating Mercedes-Benz 125th birthday.

The band’s music has also been recognised with ‘Drum for a Soul’ and ‘I’m not listening’ being licensed for independent films, ‘Caroline’ being selected for Microsoft’s sponsored song program to promote Windows 7 and both ‘Under the Sun’ and ‘FAG’ being featured by Mercedes-Benz. ‘Under the Sun’ has been “introduced” by Tom Robinson on BBC 6 Music where he described the band as “absolutely storming”.

The Words have just released their debut album ‘Truth & Faith’ through Phoenixx Records with the album being featured as album of the week on TunAthe Day, The Words being ‘band of the month’ in Room Thirteen Magazine, lead single Everybody’s With You being single of the week on ‘Indie London’, Demons receiving national airplay on Kerrang Radio, Everybody’s With You play listing on All FM and culminating in a sell out headline show at Factory 251 in Manchester to launch the album.

The Words are currently working on brand new material and are looking for a record label for the new album, publishing deals and a booking agent to help secure more high profile support slots and tours.
