The Workshy have recorded one demo with four songs, recorded by Bryon Dudley in Ames, Iowa. All of our recorded songs are streaming at our myspace page at Our songs have been played on the Iowa State radio station 88.5 KURE, and 105.1 Channel Q.

Originally friends in middle school, Jiho Han, Danny Kratzer, Brant Williams and Pete Neel were in a crappy rock band in Des Moines. Playing Nirvana and Green Day covers, they rocked for a few years, starting in 7th grade, and in their prime in 9th grade, won the Valley Southwoods Battle of Bands. Splitting up later that year, the members stopped playing together. Then 4 years later, meeting up at Iowa State University, after growing into each of their unique styles and with high-school friend Evan Cokely on drums now, and Pete playing keyboards, they began to get together weekly to jam, inspired by Phish and Grateful Dead and the whole jam band scene. After months of playing they began to slowly play gigs around the ames area, at open mics and small clubs under the name Zephyr. Eventually changing their name to The Workshy, the band is playing more than ever and is in the works of a full length CD.

Individually, the members of The Workshy are an eclectic group. Evan Cokeley, the drummer, has been apart of drumline since middle school and is currently playing with the Iowa State drumline. Brant Williams, guitar and vocals, is an accomplished jazz guitar performer, playing shows locally around Des Moines. Pete Neel, Keyboards, has a love for ever changing facial hair and his beard is always changing. Started out in music by playing drums, then swiftly moving to keyboards, Pete lays down solid, soul-pounding licks made of fire. Holding up the rhythm section, Jiho Han throws down the funk on the bass. Also with a background in Jazz, Jiho has accomplished many feats, such as winning Iowa Jazz Championships in 2007 with his high school jazz band. Jiho is not afraid to get down and dirty and in your face while slapping that bass. Danny Kratzer, guitar, is a blues background player with a funky touch. He also enjoys bluegrass and plays mandolin as a hobby. With a mixture of his funky guitar riffs and face melting solos this guitar player will leave you wanting more. The combination of all these elements brews a funky groove based expierence for all to enjoy, and can promise no two shows are the same.

The Workshy has made their way to play with bands such as Radio Moscow, Family Groove Company, and Jambang, among other acts.
