" We recently interviewed Sayline (formerly Autumn Friday), a local band whose young and energetic members lit our dim, windowless office room.

Below is the result of our short interview with the band.

Life: Who are you guys?
Sayline: Justin Hill-singer, Bruce Gray-guitar, Ryan Flaming-guitar, Jon Jackson-drums, Charles Whetstone-keys, Daniel Tallbear-Bass.
Life: Where are all of you from?
Sayline: Our band is from Weatherford.
Life: What type of music do you play?
Sayline: Post hardcore/Indie.
Life: Where did your name come from? The passage in the Bible (Matthew 5:13) that talks about us being "Salt of the earth." We spell it Sayline because we are supposed to go spread The Word.
Life: Who is your favorite band?
Sayline: mewithoutYou—Charles, Amberlin—Bruce, Thrice—Justin, Phil Collins—Ryan, Emery—Daniel, Underoath—Jon.
Life: What is unique about you guys?
Sayline: We are really diverse and we are a Christian band.
Life: What's your vision?
Sayline: We want to be positive role models.
Life: When and where is your next show?
Sayline: March 11th, 2006, at the Jesus Place in Oklahoma City, OK, at 7:00 P.M."

"Up-and-Coming band "Sayline" catches attention"

The up-and-coming band Sayline, straight out of Western Oklahoma, will soon be hitting the music scene.

"The name Sayline comes from Mattew 5:13 and talks about how God's people are salt of the earth. In this, Christians are trying to spread the word, as in "say" line," said Charles Whetstone, one of the seven members of the rock group.

"We are trying to send a postive message with clear Christian content," Whetstone, a sophomore communications art major, said.

Sayline has been together for six months, but the current lineup of group members has only been together for about two months.

"Sayline originally started out with just three members - Jon Jackson, Bruce Gray, and I," Whestone said. "But the group eventually added four more memebers who equally enjoyed playing music and wanted to do something together. We could possibly do this as a living someday."

The current lineup includes Jon Jackson, Bruce Gray, Charles Whestone, James "Fish" Smith, Ryan Flaming, Justin Hill and Daniel Tallbear.

When asked what kind of music Sayline plays, Whestone replied, "We play rock. Our sound is realy undefined. There's a lot of screaming and good times."

Sayline will debut March 11 at the Jesus Place in Oklahoma City. They will also play on March 26 in Enid at the American Legion, and April 21 at OU's Relay for Life.
