Bio

With Frankie Badali on bass, Paul Rotondo on guitar and sharing vocal duties with Michael Sartor, and James Ragudo on drums, the band played their first show at MINGA, a benefit concert held at Cardinal Carter, under the name Quiet Emergency. They emerged with a new set of songs, including originals as well as covers of songs by Incubus and Maroon 5.

As time passed, the group evolved beyond their alternative roots and began experimenting with elements of rock, grunge, pop, reggae, and even ska. The band changed their name to Inner City Lights in early 2008. Michael now contributed some guitar work to the bands shifting musical dynamic and the band continued to play at various bars and participate in Battle of the Bands events.

Another year passed and early 2009 saw yet another name change as the band began to play shows under the name, Averest. Influenced by bands like Alexisonfire, Lower Definition, and Dance Gavin Dance, the band wrote a new set of songs that kept to their experimental roots while moving towards an edgier post hardcore sound . They played a handful of shows before going into a long writing and recording hiatus. The bands constant drive for self improvement and perfection lead to hundreds of recordings and re-recordings that often never made it past pre-production. Set lists grew and the group honed their musical style as early 2011 rolled in.

With no name, the band went into Porcelain Studios and began recording their 7 song EP in early May.

Now, as The World Awake, Michael, James, Paul, and Frankie, take their first steps out of their dark basement practice space and back onto the stage. Passionate about everything they do as a band, the group plans to shake the world awake and share their own brand of post hardcore with the world. Wake up... the show's about to begin.
