they’ve gone and done it on the second attempt. Marvellous”. - 5/5 Punktastic
"...comeback of the year?" - 5/5 Big Cheese
The Xcerts critically acclaimed debut album ‘In The Cold Wind We Smile’ was released in 2009 and saw great reviews across the UK press (Big Cheese 5/5 / Rock Sound 8/10 / Kerrang 4/5). This led to the band performing at British Anthems in Tokyo. For the release of their second album ‘Scatterbrain’, the band teamed up with US producer Mike Sapone (Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, Crime in Stereo...) and recorded at his home studio in Bethpage, New York with it being mastered by Emily Lazar (Foo Fighters, Anti-Flag, Vampire Weekend, David Bowie...) the album shows an angrier side to the band’s music which harks back to the early days of 90’s Grunge. This also saw incredible reviews across the UK press (Big Cheese 5/5 / Rock Sound 8/10 / Kerrang 4/5). Scatterbrain was listed in the ‘Top 10 albums of 2010’ in Rocksound Magazine and number 1 in the same list in ThisIsFakeDIY Magazine.
So far this year the band have been part of the 3 way rotating headline Rocksound Exposure UK tour with Japanese Voyeurs and Dinosaur Pile-Up, an extensive European tour with Fu Manchu, a stripped back acoustic tour with Charlie Simpson, a milestone show at The Royal Albert Hall with Biffy Clyro, headlined a stage at The Great Escape which (quite literally) brought the ceiling of the venue down, their own headline UK tour, a couple of massive shows as main support to Taking Back Sunday and somehow managed to release an EP called ‘Stairs To Noise: The Scatterbrain EP’ in March. The band performed very well received sets at festivals across the UK this summer including T in The Park and a headline slot at Wizard Fest. They are currently on tour with Taking Back Sunday, with tours booked with Young Guns and Manchester Orchestra before the end of the year.
