They Call Me Hero may like beer more than most people, but that hasn’t stopped their music from reaching national audiences and sharing stages with The Almost, The Classic Crime, and Palisades since their inception in 2012. Grappling with the complicated corners of humanity, frontman and founder C.J. Welch’s luminous voice can be heard over a band that conjures emo-revival nostalgia and as much topographical variety as the terrain west of their Denver home. Since joining C.J. after what was supposed to be a farewell single recorded in summer 2014, Toshi Jamang (lead guitar), Dan Salisbury (drums), and Sean Cunningham (bass) have headlined shows regularly throughout Colorado, hoping to relate to others and find healing in the midst of depression, sexual abuse, and loss of loved ones. With a debut, self-titled EP on the table, TCMH has written relentlessly and looks forward to a new album in late 2016.
