"Beet Cafe.com CD Review"

Chicago's The Year After will be playing at The Rock Box on June 15th. So, who are these guys and what have they been up to? Well, the group got started in the Windy City and released their first EP At the Risk of Shipwreck in 2005.

Late last year they followed it up with their first full length disc, The Way To Get Around It. For many bands that might be the culmination of a dream and the end of the story. It's not so with The Year After. For them it was just the starting point. From there they begin playing sold out shows all over Chicago. They opened for national acts at such legendary venues as The House of Blues and Double Door.

If that weren't enough, these guys have been nominated as finalist in MTVu and Epic Record's Best Music On Campus competition. This means they were selected from over 600 national contestants. As one might guess, that means they are good. Listening to their CD it's obvious they live up to that assumption. It also seems obvious that their style of music comes alive in a concert environment. So, you won't be the first to discover the magic that is The Year After. Don't let that hold you back, though. These guys rock and are sure to put on a great show. It might be one of the last chances to see them in a small venue like this because they are rising stars. Don't find yourself telling people a year from now, "I had the chance to see those guys, but didn't make it." Just head down to the show and when The Year After are huge you can tell your friends you saw them at a small club before they hit the arena circuit.
