Bio

The Youth Anxiety are a Manchester band ready to soundtrack 2012 as it deserves to be – with intrigue, character and just a little claustrophobic. The four-piece have one EP under their belt at the end of a packed year for them – during which they played at the EuroCultured festival in addition to supporting The Twilight Sad and Everything Everything.

Picked up by XFM and described as having “intelligence sharper than a textbook’s spine” by High Voltage, the guys now look towards next year as an opportunity to spread their distinctive brand of melodic, electronic rock. By turns spirited and intense, The Youth Anxiety are influenced by Biffy Clyro, Radiohead and The Smiths, and have had comparisons ranging from Interpol to Avalanche City.

The Youth Anxiety are Danny Helme (vocals, guitar, keys); Dave Garofalo (guitar); Rick Fisher (drums); and Jonny Haze (bass). The four Manchester lads create the most unexpected sounds – the push and pull of electronica, Helme’s playful vibrato, the menace of melody turning oppressive and celebratory each passing minute. Their songs speak of fear and uncertainty, of the people who can be freed from their cages and those who hold the key.

This promo contains three of The Youth Anxiety’s songs, each confident and smart, and exploring the faults and fickleness which makes social interaction so frustrating and fascinating in turns.
