"BAND BAR-BE-QUES ON STAGE FOR S.V.H.R."

Thicke Hawkins threw a bar-be-que last week to benefit the Sun Valley Horse Rescue Assn. They also performed a handful of songs from their latest release, The Return Of Thicke Hawkins. But the most entertaining part about this fun family event was that they did both at the same time. That's right. In between songs and even while singing, Thicke could be seen on stage, casually flipping pork ribs, tending the coals and slapping cheese on burgers as Harley and the boys jammed out. To the side of the stage, Harley Hawkins would frequently walk over to stir up his crock pot of award-winning 4 alarm chili. The food was gobbled up by hungry fans and supporters of this worthy cause. The music of Thicke Hawkins was a rare treat that helped make the afternoon a complete success. Bonnie Freeman, spokesperson for SVHR thanked the boys with big hugs and joined them on stage for a heart-warming county style rendition of the Bee Gee's song "To Love Somebody". There were a few tears but all were shed in the hopes that abandoned horses in the greater Los Angeles area would be saved from being put down. There has been a spike in abandoned horses due to the recent wildfires as well as the national housing collapse and economic downfall that have left many many equestrian families homeless; unable to board and feed them. Donations are always gratefully accepted and the people at SVHR thank those who came out to give a voice to those who cannot speak. - THE HORSE'S MOUTH

Bio

THICKE HAWKINS are a bunch of guys who got tired of watching bands play boring shows and mediocre songs. It all began at a bar-be-que in Sun Valley, CA. while after a few beers and a lot of smoked pork ribs, Thicke, who was cooking (and indulging), broke into a fast auctioneer's style rant singing- "I'm the boss with the best damn sauce..." Harley, Thicke's long-time band mate didn't skip a beat finishing the line with his typical sexual innuendo- "So pull out yer meat and let it defrost!" That was the birth of the song "Bar-Be-Que" and TH's style of rowdy, rockin', catchy themes that embrace their foundation in Alt/Country/Rock music. The next best aspect of TH is their ability to take it all down to a whisper with some of the most touching acoustic ballads of heartache and personal pain. In 2008, TH was officially recognized by CMT (Country Music Television) and American country music fans with their submission of "Sad Face" to the Music City Madness video contest. They fell short of the grand prize but gained lots of fans and great interest from Nashville producers and labels. Thicke Hawkins is recording more songs for this year's release and look forward to a successful new year!
