Bio

San Diego- based, Thicker Than Thieves, pump out a sun-baked and surf-inspired mix of heavy, reggae-inflected bass lines and blazing horns fueled by punk rock's rebellious nature," wrote Bill Picture, staff writer, San Francisco Examiner. TTT has an unrivaled So Cal sound that is fresh and original. "I love Thicker Than Thieves. I think they are a great band, completely high-energy, amazingly tight and the horn section is over the top. " says Carol Bruno, co-founder and producer of Reggae On The River.
Thicker Than Thieves is led by the vocals, lyrics and drive of lead singer Jamin Hazelaar and his charasmatic So-Cal style. Guitarist Brian Sykes brings his up-beat riffs, searing guitar solos, and revolutionary style of playing into the mix, while Jeff Thorkelsen's fusion of punk rock and reggae drumming contributes another dimension to the traditional roots groove of the band. The stage is boosted by Gus Kendrick's heavy bass lines and sub sound, and when the super charged horn section featuring Billy Eisenman and Danny Mercado hit the stage, the crowd is electrified. Listener satisfaction is guaranteed.
TTT has been busy finishing and self-releasing the highly anticipated new 15 song album titled "Thru Thick and Thin" out January '07. TTT has toured extensively throughout the west coast as well as Hawaii and parts of the mid-west. In 2004, after releasing their 4 song EP titled "Respect", TTT was featured on the Vans Warped Tour and Nor Cal's Reggae On The River festival. TTT has been on the bill with many well-known acts including Toots and the Maytals, Ghetto Youth Crew(Marley bros),Baby Cham, Steel Pulse, Everlast, Ozomatli, Bad Brains, Agent Orange, Shortbus, Slightly Stupid, Pepper, Wailing Souls, Buck-O-Nine, Eek-A-Mouse, Bargain Music, D.I., and other various Skunk and Suburban Noize recording artists.
Since TTT's establishment in 2000, touring and performing in the U.S. has helped build their growing audience. In 2002, TTT released their 9 song debut CD titled "Smugglers Run", which continues to receive great reviews from industry professionals and fans alike. TTT has music featured on various surf movies as well as being nominated by SRH as "Underground Band of the Month" in 2003.
For this hard working band, the philosophy is simple; play positive music that makes people happy, inspire the youth, and encourage them to do the same. But most importantly, you've got to give repect to get respect.
