"REVUE Thirty Steps to Forward"

There's no sibling rivalry here; in fact, Seth and Gretchen Powers, siblings from South Haven, have managed to work in harmony to create music with their band Thirty Steps to Forward. The acoustic folk duo will be performing at The Red Barn Theater on Aug. 27 at 7 p.m.

With simple sounds of guitar, mandolin and harmonica, Thirty Steps to Forward uses their voices and thoughtful lyrics to sing quiet songs of a delicate heart. The duo will perform original music from their debut album The Bird and The Fool.

"West Michigan Noise Roll Call: Thirty Steps to Forward"

Very much a diamond in the rough, this South Haven duo crafts beautiful acoustic folk numbers, led by the charge of Gretchen Powers’ sweet and delicate vocal work. In the process of recording a second album, most of the band’s catalog of original music can be found on the full-length “The Bird and The Fool”, which was released in September of 2009. - West Michigan Noise

Bio

Thirty Steps to Forward has looked at life from both perspectives only to find beautiful was the way they preferred. They can most often be found taking turns flying one another from the string of a kite, to catch a glimpse of Noah’s great rainbow.
Their mandolin, guitar and harmonica are played by a man who learned music from a dancing bear, and guitar and vocals from a girl. She’s often found dancing in a meadow with her shadow, while reciting poetry to the Lady of Shallot.
As of late they have been getting carried off by the wind more easily. It is quite possible that they are currently expecting a storm to blow in, while they wait from the house that the Man in the Moon built.

Their music strives to put bits of beautiful in the world through their songs. They often full heartily encourage others to stretch out their arms and let the wind carry them to someplace beautiful as well.

Thirty Steps to Forward’s debut album “The Bird and The Fool” has finally blossomed from years of writing songs and playing music. We continue to step forward both musically and poetically. We hope this album also lets you step forward into bits of beautiful of every day life.
