Biography

This Crooked Mile is a Toronto band creating addictively sweet melodies over richly textured music. They perform acoustic music played with electric passion. It's intelligent and emotional alt/pop/rock, so memorable you'll be singing their songs on the way home from the show.

Formed in 1999, Geoff, Dan, and Mike started out as an acoustic jam band. Eventually the limitations of this format set in. Now in 2008 the bands current lineup has expanded to include Boyd, David, Dennis and Allan. Now TCM's signature sound, a unique combination of the standard rock format, with trumpets and keyboards added for colour, has emerged.

TCM are entering a new era of their careers with the CD Release of their first full length album (due out Fall 2008). Currently distributed by Indie Pool (Canada) Inc., TCM is on the road promoting their creation with as many shows as they can fit in, including opening for local indie legends "Lowest Of The Low".

Please keep listening because TCM isn't planning to settle down any time soon.

Lyrics

Tireless Angel

Written By: Geoff Olsen, © 2002

I know I don't give you much thought … I'm grounded but I wonder in and out of sight … Barely have the time to pray … Let alone to talk with you everyday …

I wonder exactly where you were … The night that I escaped from my darkest fear … Were you in the seat beside … Or did you guide the blind outside my door …

Indebted to you for a lifetime … Indebted to you friend …

I think that I heard your voice … It called for help but still had breath to calm me down … Through the pain I touched your hand … Chose not to close my eyes, draw you nearer still …

Indebted to you for a lifetime … Indebted to you friend …

I run to you now … 'Cause I don't know how … I beg I do … Please stand with me now … And never leave my side … These hollow eyes … Come fill me with your love …

A, B, C or D

Only for a day,
The only day you'll pay, attention
Like D.M.C. said,
Should be always in your head
Not next year
What's in it for us?
No minus all plus
Held tightly
A, B, C, or D
Decided in your tree
Ponder this...

I wish you could see the beauty of my thoughts
So much is lost in the translation

On party lines
Voting for your kind
Who for?
What's in it for me?
For the health and the free
All that
Guilty, that's me
Cornered
Pity, mercy
All I have

I understand, that you've a lot
Going on, no time to
Fight the fight, see the light
Maybe next year, I'll come running

I wish you could see the beauty of my thoughts
So much is lost in the translation

Vows

Written By: Geoff Olsen, © 2008

"You got it all you're fancy free
There's so much you could learn from me
The best years of you life are
When untied, unbroken"
He said to me

But you don't know me
Your majesty
I'll do just fine
I'll walk my own line, all mine
All the time

In my two years I will disagree
There's so much you could learn from me
If you find her, the right one
A soul mate, not cell mate
How rich you'd be

I see your swagger
But I know
That you're just limping
A victim of you own
Washed out sarcasm

Black Coffee

Written By: Geoff Olsen, © 2008

Awake before the sun appears
With time to dream and think about the world
And what's in store for me today
I scheme with no firm plans
Place the ground beneith my feet
It's not that I hate the work-week
But I'm at the helm, king of the boat, dancing to a song that I wrote
Part edge part flow, to show me that I'm free

I can see your hands are cold
So come inside
Without the laughter that you bring
I think that I'd cry

Have to share it with another

I take my coffee black
Safe in the knowing that
The bitterness is confined to a cup
Lighten the corners of my month
And float away
I'm drunk on the liberty
Afforded by my whereabouts
I choose to turn the page
Or do I kick back or find a cure
For whatever ails the world?

I can see your hands are cold
So come inside
Without the laughter that you bring
I think that I'd cry

Have to share it with another
