"NEW BAND FROM MEXICO"

I recently came across a band called This Ember Season and was immediately drawn in by the clever name. How a package is wrapped or labeled has always piqued my curiosities. This group of musicians has a lead singer, front person named Lia who has a great voice and clear enunciation. Her words come through the music as though she was a girl from West Los Angeles or maybe even Iowa. But Lia is from Guadalajara Mexico and she and the band now call Mexico City their home. This raised my interest more than the perfect band name does. I truly thought this group was a bunch of American college students doing an away study south of the border but I was wrong. This Ember Season is very pop alternative contemporary and as far from traditional Mexican sound as they can be. Not ashamed at all by their heritage, they have simply chosen to write and perform their music in front of a bilingual world, as all members are fluent in both English and Spanish. I have become interested in such a band that has a great look, writes great songs, and has strong International potential. The Beatles were known to have translated verses of their popular songs into Italian, German, French and Japanese when they traveled abroad but in this instance, a band that can speak and sing in the two most popular languages on the planet could easily become a valuable commodity! I highly recommend this band and you can hear them at www.myspace.com/thisemberseason

Bio

I've been singing and writing music since I was 10. I love the storytelling part of playing folk music, which is why I sing and play in this style. Always learning and growing, music never stops.
