The best kept secret in music

"Bring On The Beat"

Howdy folks. Time for another musical journey through the electro funk world. This time, I’m bringing you an EP fresh off the presses, with sounds so polished that it leaves me wondering where this artist has been all my life. PLM fan and PLF member DeluXe (aka Wayne Schulthesis) is from Vail, Colorado, and while it’s taken 4 years for him to reach this style, he’s certainly found his groove. Throwing his hat in the ring with the likes of Griz, Pretty Lights, Marvel Years, and Supervision, this EP definitely has a place among that crowd and pays tribute to their style.

The EP is called “Falling Into Place”. The songs focus on soul, funk, and bass breaks giving it versatility to either chill out to, or crank up the volume and rage to. My favorite tracks are “Make You Move” and “Falling Into Place”. Check it out below. - Noah

Up & Coming Artist - DeluXe

DeluXe, or as his friends know him, Wayne Schultheis, is a 17-year-old producer coming out of Vail, Colorado. He has been producing and remixing for four years now, and recently released his first EP, “Falling Into Place”. This funky, bass heavy collection of songs blew me away. He combines smooth guitar, amazingly clean synths, and dirty bass lines to make a fresh, original sound of his own. Be sure to check out his EP, and the interview we did with him below.

1) What is the meaning behind the name, "Falling Into Place"?

I chose the name Falling Into Place months before I finished the EP. When I was thinking what to call it, that name just seemed to fit perfectly. I believe that if you work to hard enough to achieve something and you really believe that you can do it, the universe will conspire to make it happen. If something is meant to happen, it will fall into place.

2) Who are your biggest influences as a musician?

My biggest influence as a musician has to be GRiZ, as well as Pretty Lights and the whole PLM crew. After seeing these guys perform I changed my production style completely to this electro soul type genre.

3) What programs/ plug-ins do you use?

I’ve always worked in Ableton Live; I know it like the back of my hand. Also about a year ago I picked up the Massive plug-in and I create all my synths and wobbles using that. I don't really think it matters what DAW or plugins you use though, it's how you use them.

4) What are you working on following your last EP?

Recently, I’ve been working on some single tracks that I'm going to be releasing in the near future. I’ve also been experimenting with local musicians just to see what kind of cool and unique sounds we can create.

5) What are your goals looking into the future?

I’m really hoping to play some festivals next summer, maybe a short tour. But playing Red Rocks one day is my ultimate goal, especially being from Colorado and seeing so many shows there; playing the rocks would be unreal. - Corey Steinke

Feeling a bit camera shy

DeluXe discovered his love for electronic music about 4 years ago and it
now fulfills
him. His production life started very soon after he began
listening and he has been creating new music ever since. His style took
some time to develop as he delved into different genres and experimented
with extreme beats and sounds, changing
drastically over a short period of time. This time gave him the
satisfaction of finding what his music represents. He is happy to say
that he has found his sound, the sound of Deluxe! He creates most of his
own instrument sounds blending and fusing them with electronic samples
to create an electronic soulful sound that gets people feeling and
moving. Deluxe has shared the stage with the likes of Michael
Menert of Pretty Lights Music, LM, Mikey Thunder, Krooked Drivers, Mux Mool, Marvel Years,
Proper Motion, Congo Sanchez, Lidsky
