"Premiere: HÄANA - 'Teardrop' A cinematic slant on the Massive Attack classic..."

Los Angeles artist HÄANA has shared the stage with everyone from The Rolling Stones to Moby, with her magnetic presence winning acclaim from all corners.

Closing 2016 with typical style, the singer went back into the studio lately, laying down a series of fresh ideas. Deciding to tackle a song she has loved for some time, HÄANA worked up a version of Massive Attack’s ‘Teardrop’. Slowing the track to a funereal pace, HÄANA finds renewed emotion in the songwriting, a space to truly call her own.
Bulgarian cellist Irina Chirkova assists, while the arrangement itself is a remarkably stark fusion of the digital and the organic. Clash is able to premiere the visuals, and they’re a rather special, evocative adjunct to the music itself. Tune in now. - Clash

"HÄANA – The Finding (Sinistarr Remix)"

On Data Transmission, we’re premiering a remix of The Finding by Sinistarr, of Los Angeles-based sound artist HÄANA. With forward-thinking beats and driving bass contrasting with HÄANA’s ethereal otherworldly vocals and string treatments. This is the fourth remix from the upcoming Brym Remix Album out 6.28.16.

Sinistarr is one of the leaders of the dance music new school, a triple-threat as a DJ/Producer/serial Remixer who’s as well known for his forward-thinking beats as he is for nightclub domination. If you know drum and bass you know Sinistarr as a respected junglist who’s dropped heavyweight tracks over the years on Goldie’s Metalheadz imprint, Doc Scott’s 31 Recordings, Hospital Records, Architecture Recordings and Renegade Hardware.

Recently though, the man’s been everywhere, applying his signature style to diverse sounds like footwork, techno and house with releases and remixes on SMOG, Tectonic, Human Elements, Seclusiasis, Juke Trax, and Loose Squares that show him moving beyond dance music conventions and constantly reaching out to a new audience. - Data Transmission (UK)

HÄANA, a powerhouse electronic string artist/vocalist and producer is set to release her Brym Remix Album on June 21, 2016. Based out of Los Angeles and overflowing with Nordic and Eastern European influence, HÄANA creates addictive and heated electronic compositions. Brym, released in 2014, showcases her talent for artfully crafted dances of strings backed by gorgeous, gritty beats and heavenly, wispy vocals.

Secretly Rad Media has your exclusive premiere of the track “Phavet” remixed by SOOHAN from the forthcoming record.

SOOHAN’s “Phavet” remix shapes sprinting orchestras of HÄANA’s strings with surprises of deep house beats weaving in and out of the mix. It’s energizing, it’s thrilling, and it doesn’t stop for a breath. - Secretly Rad Media

"Our Favourite Artists Heard at Lightning in a Bottle"

“From Chet Faker to Autograf to HÄANA, check out the artists that we're still buzzing about [at Lightning in a Bottle].”

Lightning in a Bottle provided an experience for attendees that was about more than music. However, the musical lineup was one that can not be overlooked. An array of talented musicians played at this year’s LIB, and headliners of the event included Chet Faker, Grimes, Big Gigantic, Cashmere Cat, Jamie XX, Four Tet and Tokimonsta. The festival saw an eclectic mix of electronic music, from dubstep to techno to deep house to tribal house. There was a little bit of something for everyone.

If you don’t know who HÄANA is, you need to discover her. She was one of the most talented individuals I came across all weekend. Dressed in a black and gold dress, with a gold cage headpiece, HÄANA sings live, mixes live, and plays the violin live. Her nordic inspired tunes, combined with her ethereal voice and the twang of her violin create a uniquely magical sound. The beauty of her music is something that should not be overlooked and is something that everyone needs to experience at least once. - Fresh Clef

"Lightning in a Bottle 2016: Bottle's Full But the Lightning's Still There"

HÄANA at the Thunder stage on Sunday: Perhaps the most Buzz Bands-worthy artist I saw at this year’s LiB, was the live-mixing, singing, and violin-playing wonder. The melodic and sometimes haunting Nordic sounds and improvisations of HÄANA were tucked neatly between Sabo & Goldcap and David Starfire. A particular favorite was when she seamlessly blended her own production into one by Massive Attack, a clear influence of hers. True devotees were also given the opportunity to see her again in more collaborative form, playing later with Desert Dwellers and Dimond Saints on the same stage. - Buzz Bands LA

"Introducing... HÄANA"

Los Angeles-based HÄANA describes herself as a sound artist rather than as a musician, and listening to her otherworldly, ethereal violin exursions, one can understand why. This latest offering is a remix of her song “Brym Al Mar” by Dimond Saints, an Oakland, California duo, whose mission it is to expand the boundaries of electronic music. This musical interpretation conjures some heady magic, as a classical string quartet is brought into an exotic overseas dance hall. The result is hypnotic.

This is the first track from an album of different remixes of this beautiful song. You can preorder it here. It comes out on June 14.

HÄANA’s original song is inspired by a traditional Norwegian folk song. Her unique sound merges traditional Scandinavian folk music with the latest electronics and her exotic, mysterious vocals. She has opened for The Rolling Stones, shared the stage with Kanye West and has performed at some high-profile events, such as President Obama’s Inaugural Ball and Michael Jordan’s wedding (now, there’s a juxtaposition!). Her discography thus far includes three singles and two EPs. This stunning music can be heard on her bandcamp site, and please support this innovative artist! - Boston Survival Guide

Bio

LA-based producer/violinist/vocalist HÄANA's original productions are like a filmscore: Nordic and Icelandic-tinged music merged with digital and analog. She counts Massive Attack, Björk, and Trentemøller as influences in crafting her sounds. The resulting sonic palate takes listeners on a journey whose destination is a crossroads between classical and contemporary, organic & man-made, familiar and mysterious. “Sonic stardust.” (Vogue) "Rather breathtaking." (Clash) “Luminous frequencies & violin instrumentation tied with foreign Icelandic lyrical messages are found in her voice...” (Afro Monk) "It has the ability to seep into your soul in ways only orchestral & electronic music can.” (Infectious Magazine) “Majestic” (Nothing But Hope & Passion) HÄANA has been featured in Vogue, and special appearances include performing for Michael Jordan’s wedding, opening for The Rolling Stones with Kanye West, and for Obama’s Inaugural Ball.
