Bio

Striving to combine various influences in a way that constructs a non-generic sound, but also blends all of the aspects together so well that it doesn't sound like they're trying too hard to be what everyone else isn't; This Is Justis's musical style reflects how passionate they are as musicians and as a band, especially in this day and age where everyone is so caught up in image that they lose the meaning of musicianship. This Is Justis is a band that subtly combines different elements in a way that blends into one unique sound that is heavily influenced by Brand New and Manchester Orchestra. They originally formed in 2010 under the name Drop Dead Lexi.

This band was not formed in the typical “hey-we're-both-musicians-who-go-to-the-same-high-school-let's-be-friends-and-form-a-band” scenario. It started when Zach became introduced to his little brother's annoying friend, Lakota. After a rocky start, Zach realized Lakota wasn't so bad and asked him to join his band. Lakota was down, although his parents weren't too keen. However, once they had decided that Zach's heart (and other body parts, given the fact that Lakota was 11 and Zach 17 at the time) was in the right place, they agreed to let him be in the band. Prior to all of that, Zach had asked his friend Jackson to be in the band, an offer which he refused. Zach responded by giving him an acoustic recording of some of his songs and hoped that he would lay down a few drum tracks. The next day Jackson agreed to be in the band. Thus, the birth of the pop punk outfit Drop Dead Lexi. After a year or so, the boys grew tired of their sound and introduced a new song by the name of “Fight, Fall, Crawl” scrapping their old songs as well as their name.

This Is Justis has recently added a new member to their lineup, bassist Callie Wood and are expecting to release their debut EP in June of 2012.
