Bio

Munich completed their debut 11 date UK tour in Feb 2011 gaining many new fans. After having already had a great 2010 with their debut EP and sell out launch party shows in Brighton and London, 2011 starts how it means to go on, with a bang. In Feb 7th they were included in the Music Week magazine compilation CD gaining the most plays out of 13 other bands on Music Weeks soundcloud page online with around 360 plays in just over a week.

Munich plan to tour most of the year along with June 20th debut Single, playing Great Escape and more festivals, releasing their 2nd single in August, recording their album in October and another tour to end the year.

The Brighton 5 piece released their well received debut EP ‘Where are you now‘ last November to great industry acknowledgment. The EP was produced by Paul Corkett (The Cure, Placebo, Nick Cave, Bjork and Biffy Clyro) at Moles Studios Bath and was released worldwide though imprint label MaDa Music with distribution from Right Track/ Universal Music.

Their debut single ALL SUSSED OUT is due for release in June (worldwide/download/Universal Music Dsitribution) which they recorded at Miloco’s Studio, The Pool with James Lewis (The Wombats/Pistols and Cajun Dance Party), the b-side will be Roy Orbison’s ‘I Drove All Night’ which is also being included in Roy’s 75th birthday compilation album released worldwide in April.

Stuart Slade (Vocals) James Mckeown (Guitar, piano, vocals) Stuart Weller (Guitar) Josh Holmes (Drums) and Tom Howland (Bass) have been likened to stadium rockers The Verve and Muse and have played the likes of Glastonbury, The Great Escape festivals and the London and Brighton gig circuits in venues such as Digital, Concorde2, O2 Academy Islington and proud Galleries alongside: Codeine Velvet Club, Chapel Club, Maccabees, Bluetones,Graham Coxon, Bombay Bicycle Club and Mona.

In the past year they have received some great press and radio including recently being play listed on XFM Radio and Brighton’s Juice FM and received reviews in Magazine's Q, The Fly, Source and XYZ. BBC Introducing also picked up on the band, playing tracks from the EP and resulting with Munich playing a show in Reading on December 2010.

The EP is still available worldwide through MaDa Music with distribution from Right track/Universal Music on CD & Download NOW from all online media such as I-Tunes, HMV.com and more.

Munich know 2011 will be a great year and will really a big step up from previous years including building up their forever growing fanbase, live sessions, writing the album and playing as many gigs as possible.

Media Quotes:

Q Magazine
“Masters of the slow build with huge swathes of strings reminiscent of The Verve at their best with added chiming guitars and a hint of James at their best. This Brighton five piece have some evocative fist clenching tunes and a giant voice in the shape of simply dubbed singer Slade”.

BBC Sussex Introducing
'Epic, Good stuff'

XFM (X-posure show - John Kennedy)
"Epic, I love them”

XFM (head of music - Mike Walsh)
"Munich are great and just what British music needs"
Audience/ Live Magazine (James Drury)
“With its anthemic strings and powerful crescendo, Right Time Right Place has serious chart potential.”

Brighton Source Magazine (NC)
‘Munich certainly don’t mislead. With arenas-in-waiting swirls of guitar, swathed in levels of reverb that would make The Edge say “that’s a lot of reverb there, lads’, the songs pack an immense emotional punch. Even ballad ‘Where Are You Now’ racks up the atmospherics, but elsewhere it’s the bait of the plugs’n’pedals work along various fret boards that reels the listener in, matching a colossal size of sound with memorable hooks – what more could you ask for?’

XYZ Magazine
"Dreamy pop written with the summer festivals in mind."

Juice FM (Tony Marks)
"With songs as huge as Together Again, Munich deserve to be playing in front of equally huge audiences."
