This Is Now

BandRockAlternative

This Is Now is a group of musicians and songs that create an 80’s retro rock feel with a new twist. By blending New Wave & Progressive Rock genres This Is Now has produced an album with entwining counter melodies that rhythmically cruise, peak, and crest.

Biography

All lyrics were written by singer, songwriter & frontman Angelo “The Glow” DiPilla. The Glow shines by offering intellectual commentary on the human condition with a mass appeal groove.

This Is Now, the debut, self-titled release by this musically seasoned band, features songs that explore the human emotions of jealousy, in "Rig The Bait;" and feeling out of place, in "Ordinary Man;" or imminent death, in "In Dread You’re Read."

The band’s music is strongly influenced by lead guitarist, Brian Hannigan, whose screaming rock & roll licks explode in "Our Love," and in the moody swells of "It’s A Good Thing."

This Is Now live shows feature concert-style solo performances from each of its members, including piano virtuoso, Phil LaBar, whose playing is prominent in "Loneliness," a creeping ballad that builds to an ominous finish; and "Music Out Of Tune," a song that relates the futility of unrequited love.

The New Jersey band is anchored by a heavy rhythm section grounded in drummer, Roy Cole’s, tasty fills and solid backbone beats; his skill is evident in tracks like "Gratefully Living," or "Memories Of A Melting Man."

This Is Now produces a full wall of sound complimented by the booming bottom of bassist, Lou Flacche; his five-string, and fretless bass work is prominent in the heartfelt, "Mathew John Mathew," and the jamming, "Changing Sides."

This Is Now creates an eclectic mix of musical stories that capture the feelings of it’s new listeners, and bcontinues ring back a steady following of loyal fans to hear crowd favorites like "Puppy Dog" and "Subliminal Seduction."

Many years of turmoil preceded the production and release of this album, but that was then, and This Is Now.

Lyrics

Gratefully Living

Written By: Angelo DiPilla

I said damn
we've got to start over again
that's alright
we'll make it my friend
it's the quality of life that makes it worth living
and compromise aint bliss
to those gratefully living

Lend me a hand
it's time to start up a band
start it out right
with some good old friends
it's the people in life that make it worth living
and hangin' with wrong aint right
to those gratefully living

Rig the Bait

Written By: Angelo DiPilla

What's all the talkin'
yip-yap and squawkin'
Are you gonna do it
or were you just talkin'
Come on, put up or shut up
Are you gonna spit your gut up
You never had what it takes
so put on the brakes
Hesitate it's too late
If you want to know straight
I'm telling you mate
you've got to concentrate
Rig the Bait

Yeah-Yeah, Yeah-Yeah, Yeah-Yeah

What's all the fussin'
and thinking you musn't
Are you gonna do it
or were you just bluffin'
You don't have to believe it
If it's true than she'll leave it
Then you'll know what to think
Right on the brink
Weakest link, take a drink
I'm tellin' you straight
If you want to know mate
you've got to concentrate
Rig the Bait

Yeah-Yeah, Yeah-Yeah, Yeah-Yeah

In Dread You're Read

Written By: Angelo DiPilla

Your eyes are contorted
Lips blood cold
In mind you're distorted
Time bought and sold
To God you've resorted
I think you're un-souled
I find you're still thwarted
Be cunning be bold and

In dread you're read
Breakout in a cold sweat
In dread you're read
It aint over yet
In dread you're read
Any imposition I sincerely regret

You're story completed
Despairation untold
Cause thoughts of another life
Came too late to hold and

In dread you're read
Breakout in a cold sweat
In dread you're read
It aint over yet
In dread you're read
Any imposition I sincerely regret
