In the winter 0f 1995 fleeing both political violence and poverty while chasing the "American Dream," he found himself smack dab in the middle of Newark, NJ (a long way from the slums of Port-au-Prince, Haiti). With an unemployed mother and no extended family or formal education to call his own, chances of survival were slim at best. Music became his sanctuary; Hip Hop to be exact. Its class acts teaching him not only a new language but a new mentality. Now in 2009 approaching 22 he's finally ready to speak... his name is $lim Doe La.
