The sound that This Morning has finally arrived to has been an 8 year work in progress. The creative force behind This Morning, Matt Corey has drawn influence from a number of various artists, such as; Of Monsters and Men, The Avett Brothers, Dry the River, Bon Iver, The Civil Wars, The Lumineers, and Mumford and Sons. And though he doesn't like to restrict the description of his music to genre titles, it can be described as an alternative folk style, that also draws from some rock and country aspects.
The goal of his music has been to hash out his own personal life in a way that is therapeutic while still being applicable and understood by an audience. He never writes a song for the sake of writing something, everything has a purpose and is drawn from an authentic experience. And this connection he has with his lyrics is shown through his passionate performances however raw they may be.
