Bio

I wasn't real sure if I was ever going to find the right guys. The kind of guys who bleed music" says This Tragic Day (TTD) frontman Chris "Dirtboy" Featherstone. "This is a tough town to make it in. There's a lot of great talent in this city."

TTD is a band from Memphis, TN. Formed from a set of seasoned musicians, the band has been together since the end of 2009. The guys didn't really know what to expect when they put the group together, seeing as how each member had a unique background. There was no preconceived notions about what they were going to play or sound like, they just decided to write what the felt.

Consisting of Stephen Freeman on bass, David Soard and Michael Spann on guitar, with Jason Harshman and Chris "Dirtboy" Featherstone on vocals, and Shannon "Ox" Storozyszyn on drums, TTD just wrapped up recording three songs with longtime friend and fellow Memphis musician, Blake Allison. Allison, who splits his time between producing bands and drumming for the widely successful rock outfit Egypt Central, was chomping at the bit to helm the controls for the TTD recordings.

"These are some of the most respected guys, not only in this city, but in music period, and I was on board from the first time we all sat down and talked about it. This stuff is seriously going to blow people away" says Allison.

The songs have just received the finishing touches from renowned mix engineer Grant Craig at Skiddco Music in Nashville and are set to be mastered by Brad Blackwood at Euphonix Mastering in early 2011.

Jarod Cole, of Surrender the Fall, stepped in to provide some guest vocals on two of the tracks, and had this to say, "Holy S**t, these guys are the real deal!"

The band is also currently preparing its live show to bring to the masses. "This band lives to play live. It's our forte, and I cannot wait to get this stuff in front of people" says bassist Stephen Freeman.

"I have this vision, and it is a very elaborate vision and everyone seems to understand it without me having to say anything. It is not every day you find this kind of chemistry. That is what I love about this band, it is perfect for me" says guitarist Michael Spann. "This Tragic Day may be relatively new to the music scene, but trust me when I say, do not make the mistake of underestimating us."

Eddie Tyre, of Surrender the Fall, asks "Have I mentioned how jealous I am of the obscene, sick, retarded ass metal [TTD] plays?" pauses for a second and says "This is the best metal band I've heard in a very long time, I'm not just talking about local [bands] either!"

When asked how far the band plans to take their music, singer Dirtboy says "This is it for me, I plan to push this, pull this and take this as far as I can." Guitarist Michael Spann adds "If I have to rape, pillage and plunder to get this band out to the people, I will. I will do whatever I have to do to get us out there."

Guitarist David Soard seems to have summed it all up "This is the best band I have been in, hands down. We are really going to freak people out."
