Bio

Forming as youngsters in junior high school, the boys have grown and evolved together as a band. Starting out like many (now in their mid twenties) rock bands, TTLY began as a Blink 182 cover band playing local school dances and music halls. Throughout the years, TTLY have evolved drastically drawing from hardcore rock influences Everytime I Die, Oh Sleeper, The Devil Wears Prada and Alexisonfire. In 2008, TTLY recorded "The Fall of Hayden Young" with Calgarian "do it yourselfer" Alex Wilkinson of Playdead Studios. In 2008, the guys entered Calgary's BoDog battle of the bands and advanced to the semi-final round before loosing out to Joshua's Habit and The Matt Blais Connection. In early 2010, This Tyme Last Year released two new singles showcasing the mature and heavy direction the band has taken. On stage, the guys have undeniable chemistry drawing off each other to make each show packed with energy, excitement, and crowd participation. After going through multiple guitar players and one of the greatest record deal hoaxes ever (fabricated in the mind of the late lead guitarist), the boys have reassembled and recharged with easily their most powerful music to date. This Tyme Last Year has played alongside some of Alberta's finest indie talent including: Becoming the Martyr, Mapping the Escape, This Very Day, Calm asa Coma, Jay and the Lovebirds, New Fight Scene and countless others along the way. This Tyme Last Year is eager to return to the drivers seat and showcase their sleeping giant. It's been waiting in the closet and hungry to swallow today's kids whole.
