 Malmö, Skåne, SWE
BandPop

Electronic, melancholic pop music sounding like a mixture of the 80's and the present.

Biography

The two men behind This Vision, singer Marcus Lantz and synthesizer player/programmer Christian Hartmann, have known each other since their early teens, growing up on the same street in a suburban town outside Helsingborg in southern Sweden.

They had both been playing music for several years when they first started playing together. Marcus was 17, and Christian 16 years old at the time. In the seven years that followed they played various kinds of rock and pop together in different bands but it wasn’t until 2005 that they first started to experiment with synthesizers and a more electronic sound.

In early 2006 the members of their band, Stones Cry Out, decided to go their separate ways, but Marcus – at that time playing the drums – and Christian – bass and synthesizers – decided to carry on with their passion for music. This Vision was born/formed.

Starting out, the duo knew little about in which direction they were heading for with their music. Marcus took on the role as the singer, and they experimented with synthesizers and computer programming to re-make some of their old songs. Instead of the more common way of writing and rehearsing arrangements in advance, everything was composed and conceived during the recording stage. Even though this made the process very long, This Vision’s first EP was released in 2007.

The songs, electronic synth-pop with a touch of both the 80’s and contemporary music was very well received, both by the public, and the critics who predicted a great future for the band.

Instead of going live and taking their music to the stage, the duo decided to focus on recording its first studio album. All of the work on the album was made by This Vision themselves, from recording to producing and mixing. Their close friend Emil Svensson helped out by recording the guitars, and a fellow local musician, Helena Arlock, lent her voice to a mesmerizing duet, as well as designing the artwork for the album.

For about a year they went between their home studio – where most of the recordings were made – and the studio were the final recordings of vocals, guitars and mixing took place. After a lot of intense work and finalizing details during the summer, the self-entitled album “This Vision” was released in October, 2009.

Lyrics

Young Hearts

Written By: Marcus Lantz

It wasn´t supposed to be this way And boy we know they´re wrong Look what they have done to you Your life has just begun

We fight while our hearts are still young But this boy’s heart is forever gone He´s waiting for his chance tonight But this boy’s heart has lost it´s will to fight

Our hearts have been torn apart tonight We all know that something is wrong There is no love in this shallow world And soon everything turns to dust

We fight while our hearts are still young But this boy’s heart is forever gone He´s waiting for his chance tonight But this boy’s heart has lost it´s will to fight

Wherever I Run

Written By: Marcus Lantz

You closed your eyes and turned away
Why are you sleeping alone?
Give me someone to adore
Are you thinking of someone else?

We, we will never change
We will always stay the same
Why are you so sad my love?
We try to forgive still I don´t know who you are
Who am I to judge your loss

A bond of trust has been abused
Can you feel it to when you´re alone
So close but still to far away
There is always you wherever I run

We, we will never change
We will always stay the same
Why are you so sad my love?
We try to forgive still I don´t know who you are
Who am I to judge your loss

Adore me, Adore me..

We, we will never change
We will always stay the same
Why are you so sad my love?
We try to forgive still I don´t know who you are
Who am I to judge your loss

You closed your eyes and turned away
There is always you wherever I run.
