This Vision är en Helsingborgsduo som består av Marcus Lantz och Christian Hartmann. 2007 släppte man en EP och nu är det självbetitlade debutalbumet här. Och det är elegant, luftig synthpop som levereras. Mjuk, böljande, varm. Musik som smeker och skapar stämning.
Tankarna förs ofta till Space Age Baby Janes fantastiska ”The Electric Love Parade”, även om melodierna inte är riktigt lika vassa hos This Vision. Man kan även göra kopplingar till exempelvis den bomullsmjuka känslan hos Club 8.
Lena gitarrer parar sig med elektroniska tangenter och statiska programmeringar, och även om man ibland kan önska sig lite mer variation i uttrycket är det en riktigt bra debutplatta.

Syntpoppare är lite som hårdrockare, de ger sig aldrig utan fortsätter framhärda trots att världen runt omkring förändras i rasande fart.
Det finns något betryggande i att hänge sig åt en längtan bort från nuet. Att ett gyllene decennium i sammanhanget är 80-talet är ingen hemlighet.
This Vision är en fjärranblickande syntduo från Helsingborg bestående av Marcus Lantz och Christian Liedholm Hartmann, två rockare som tvingades sadla om efter att bandet de spelade i upplöstes och de stod själva kvar. Det är då man öppnar garderoben, startar trummaskinen och dammar av tangentborden.
Inledande "Exit Utopia" sätter en lagom vemodig grundstämning som håller i sig plattan igenom. This Vision har nära till melodierna, men vägrar att sockra och smickra i onödan. Musikaliskt befinner sig gruppen nära namn som Pet Shop Boys och The Radio Dept. "This Vision" är en debut som håller.

Och This Vision, Marcus Lantz och Christian Liedholm Hartmann, har fog för sin dröm om att slå utanför Hbg. Deras storslagna, vackra syntpop är en evolution av tidiga idéer från Pet Shop Boys (Marcus Lantz röst kunde vara kusin till Neil Tennants) och New Order som getts en mer symfonisk touch och sedan filtrerats genom lite gammal hederlig nordvästskånsk melankoli. Låtidéerna ligger nära varandra, vilket gör att helheten får en släng av monotoni, men det är en surkartkommentar i marginalen. This Visions debut övertygar stort.

The two men behind This Vision, singer Marcus Lantz and synthesizer player/programmer Christian Hartmann, have known each other since their early teens, growing up on the same street in a suburban town outside Helsingborg in southern Sweden.
They had both been playing music for several years when they first started playing together. Marcus was 17, and Christian 16 years old at the time. In the seven years that followed they played various kinds of rock and pop together in different bands but it wasn’t until 2005 that they first started to experiment with synthesizers and a more electronic sound.
In early 2006 the members of their band, Stones Cry Out, decided to go their separate ways, but Marcus – at that time playing the drums – and Christian – bass and synthesizers – decided to carry on with their passion for music. This Vision was born/formed.
Starting out, the duo knew little about in which direction they were heading for with their music. Marcus took on the role as the singer, and they experimented with synthesizers and computer programming to re-make some of their old songs. Instead of the more common way of writing and rehearsing arrangements in advance, everything was composed and conceived during the recording stage. Even though this made the process very long, This Vision’s first EP was released in 2007.
The songs, electronic synth-pop with a touch of both the 80’s and contemporary music was very well received, both by the public, and the critics who predicted a great future for the band.
Instead of going live and taking their music to the stage, the duo decided to focus on recording its first studio album. All of the work on the album was made by This Vision themselves, from recording to producing and mixing. Their close friend Emil Svensson helped out by recording the guitars, and a fellow local musician, Helena Arlock, lent her voice to a mesmerizing duet, as well as designing the artwork for the album.
For about a year they went between their home studio – where most of the recordings were made – and the studio were the final recordings of vocals, guitars and mixing took place. After a lot of intense work and finalizing details during the summer, the self-entitled album “This Vision” was released in October, 2009.
