I Ain't Innocent

Written By: Thom Williams

I Ain't Innocent

I ain't innocent
I done a thing or two
I took the road not taken
and I've taken it with you
I ain't asking for no forgiveness
And I don't think any's comin' down to soon

I drank the holy water
just to quench my thirst (and it burned baby)
and the 11th commandment
ain't no different from the first
I ain't innocent my baby
no matter what you heard

some people are just perfect
exactly like they are
they done bumped their halo
on the roof of daddy's car
some people are like angels
fallen down to earth
I wonder why they rub their wings
down here in the dirt
I ain't innocent
I cannot tell a lie
you'd probably catch me anyway

I ain't innocent
I know all about those 7 deadly sins
But they're just the beginning
of where I'm taking this
and you ain't innocent either baby
so it's over, case dismissed

I ain't innocent
my little partner in crime
you're right here with me
talkin' smack
there ain't no use in crying, no
I read this story before
One bite of your apple
and you can have a bite of mine
'cause I ain't innocent

Blues for the World

Written By: Thom Williams

Blues for the World

Another bad thing happened
I saw it on the news
A building was still burning
I think a pipeline blew

The continents were drifting
Away into the sea
I wondered if there'd be anything
left for the likes of you and me

They say there's no problem
you get that you can't fix
But one trip around the dials
makes a lie out of this

I'm gonna have to sing
the blues for the world
I'm gonna have to play
the blues for the day

it's all smoke and mirrors
disguised as something new
push that rock up the hill
it'll come rolling back to you

we must be made of something
taken from the sky
something looking up
until the end of time

I'm gonna have to cry cry cry
the blues for the world
a building's still burning
a pipeline blew I heard
cry cry cry
I think I'm gonna have to
cry the blues for the world

Cold Comfort

Written By: Thom Williams

Cold Comfort

When the fire is going out
what is there to say
That's cold comfort baby
but I'll take it anyway

When you're leavin' on that train
Give me one last kiss
That's cold comfort baby
on a night like this

and please don't try to tell me
how you love your boy
that's cold comfort baby
when you lose your pride and joy

and that's cold comfort baby
frozen and stone cold
ain't helpin' no one
no one I've ever known

that's cold comfort baby
you must be made of snow
welcome to the arctic
welcome to the pole
and that's cold

it's cold comfort baby
frozen and stone cold
and it ain't helpin' no one
no one I've ever known

that's cold comfort baby
you must be made of snow
welcome to the arctic
welcome to the pole
and that's cold

when the show is over
take your bows and walk away
that's cold comfort baby
at the end of the play

when it's time to turn the page
take it like a man
that's cold comfort baby
but I'm sayin' all I can
and please don't try to tell me
how you love your boy
that's cold comfort baby
when you lose your pride and joy

The Truth is Free

Written By: Thom Williams

The Truth is Free

The most common thing I hear
is talk about the truth
from the lovers, the losers
the likes of me and you

everybody's trying to get some
like it was lemonade
like you could go on out
and find it before it slipped into the shade

the generals say they got it
the insurgents say it too
they're willing to die tomorrow
just to get to heaven soon

but the truth is free
we must have peace
everybody sees it
everyone like me

sometimes the hardest thing to see
is right in front of you
you can chase it
you can't catch it
but it might come to you

it might happen
when you're driving
or when you hold
the ones you love
it's like the heavens open and
you go back the way you've come

but the truth can get right past you
it happens on this side
still everyone is sayin'
that the truth keeps them alive

but the truth is free

Love is the Cure

Written By: Thom Williams

Love is the Cure

It's so easy to get burned
to have the tables turned
what you once depended on
well I guess it's come and gone

It's so simple to be sad
ever since the world began
mistakes lead to mistakes
and then your heart just breaks

The selfish ones may steal
the danger's very real
but I cannot stop
believing

I might be a fool
you might be one too
still I've got to believe
that something is true

Love is the Cure
It's like good whiskey
That's medicine too
Love is the Cure
it's like good whiskey
and it warms you too

It's so easy to give up
to turn your back and run
to take the easy way out
til all that's left is doubt

The selfish ones will steal, etc.

My Daddy's Outside Drunk in the Car

Written By: Thom Williams

My Daddy's Outside Drunk in the Car

Somebody told me my daddy was outside
drunk in the car
we sent him off to work
but he didn't get that far
it's been the same thing ever since the war.
My daddy's outside drunk in the car

His old man was addicted
to Coca Cola
It was a family weakness
but he couldn't control it

We said to see a doctor
but he didn't get far
My daddy's outside
drunk in the car

I'm gonna take him home
He ain't gonna like it though
my daddy was a soldier
my daddy had a brain
now it's makin' me crazy
to see it goin' down the drain
some body told me my daddy was outside
drunk in the rain
we sent him off to rehab
but he's at it again
it's been the same thing
ever since the war
my daddy's outside
drunk in the car

I'm gonna take him home
He ain't gonna like it though
my daddy was a soldier
my daddy had a brain
now it's makin' me crazy
to see it goin' down the drain

somebody told me my daddy was outside
drunk in the car

White Star

Written By: Thom Williams/John Grecia

White Star

Hanging in the air
On Christmas night somewhere
I'm making a wish
For me and you
White Star to get me through

Following your light
Out here on Christmas night
I'm making a plan
To get back home
White Star I think you know

A million other lights
Illuminate the night
White Star
What's the meaning of Christmas?

Hanging in the air
On Christmas night somewhere
I know in my heart
I've seen your light
White Star I'll be alright
