"SONG: Thorisson & Nitika Budha Magar - 'Don't Lie to Me'"

What’s this? One of our fave Icelandic talents Thorisson has recruited Nitika Budha Magar to guest on his brand-new single – ‘Don’t Lie to Me’.
What’s it like? He serves up a lush synthpop soundscape that throws it right back to the mid-nineties and covers the whole thing in a candy-coated glaze. It POPS!
Written by? Thorisson himself, along with Alexandra Alden.
More from Thorisson? If you like the sound of this new single, then you’ll most likely find plenty to love in ‘High‘. We did!

You can find ‘Don’t Lie To Me’ on our Best New Synthpop playlist. - Scandipop

"Icelandic producer Thorisson releases his vibrant new single “Rise Up”."

Saxophonist and producer Thorisson has teamed up with vocalist Amanda Bashmakova for his latest release “Rise Up”, a dancetastic electro-pop number that will bring happiness and inspiration to all.

Thorisson states that “Rise Up” addresses the issue of sexism in the music business – it is an empowerment song with a good message; rise up against gender discrimination. The song’s inspiring vocals are by Amanda Bashmakova, singer of a Southampton based band BASH!

“Rise Up”s powerful and uplifting vibe makes it the perfect song to play during a workout. It follows an every growing list of superb tracks from Thorisson since he made his debut in 2015 with “The Chase”. The 25 year old always uses ‘guest’ vocalists on each of his tracks, most recently that fell to Hedband, Iceland’s newest 80’s infused Scandi-electro-pop duo on the track “Snjókorn Falla” (“Snowflakes Fall”). - Talk About Pop Music

"Thorisson Unveils New Single ‘Don’t Lie to Me’"

Icelandic DJ and Producer Thorisson has teamed up with Nepali singer and songwriter Nitika Budha Magar to deliver his brand new single Don't Like to Me, an infectious song about a person who has been mistreated in a relationship to the point where she‘s had enough.

I am really enjoying the energy of the song and the synth lines are quite catchy and infuse the song with an 80's synthpop vibe that is right up my alley. Nitika's haunting vocal performance flows beautifully over the infectious electronic production and it beautifully complements the song's dramatic, and somewhat dark, atmosphere. If you're into 80s-tinged synth lines, groovy percussion, smooth vocals and an addictive pop hook, then you'll love Don't Lie to Me. This song beautifully showcases Thorisson‘s ‘80s influences and how he perfectly blends synthpop nostalgia with contemporary pop music. Check it out below! - Caesar Live N Loud

"SONG: Thorisson - 'High'"

What’s this? The latest single from Icelandic producer Thorisson – this is ‘High’.
What’s it like? It sounds like a young Icelandic producer has suddenly stumbled upon the underrated works of ’90s UK band Dubstar and paid homage. Full respect to him if he has, and even more respect to him if it was a happy accident.
Written by? Thorisson and Elina Pukita.
More from Thorisson? We still live for his ‘One Night‘ masterpiece released last year.

You can find ‘High’ on our Best New Synthpop playlist. - Scandipop

"THORISSON UNVEILS NEW SINGLE ‘DON’T LIE TO ME’"

Icelandic DJ and Producer Thorisson has teamed up with Nepali singer and songwriter Nitika Budha Magar to provide his brand new single Never Like to Me, an infectious song about a individual who has been mistreated in a connection to the point exactly where she‘s had sufficient.

I am seriously enjoying the power of the song and the synth lines are very catchy and infuse the song with an 80’s synthpop vibe that is proper up my alley. Nitika’s haunting vocal efficiency flows beautifully more than the infectious electronic production and it beautifully complements the song’s dramatic, and somewhat dark, atmosphere. If you are into 80s-tinged synth lines, groovy percussion, smooth vocals and an addictive pop hook, then you will really like Never Lie to Me. This song beautifully showcases Thorisson‘s ‘80s influences and how he completely blends synthpop nostalgia with modern pop music. Verify it out under! - Gossipella

"SONG: Hedband & Thorisson - 'One Night'"

Who that? So we’ve got Hedband (Karitas Harpa Davíðsdóttir and Inga Birna Friðjónsdóttir) and Thorisson (Borgar Þórisson). All three are Icelandic artists, and together they’ve teamed up to release a new song together. ‘One Night’.
What’s it like? A super-camp and delightfully-kitsch pastiche of eighties synthpop – the ostentatious kind, rather than the minimalist. There’s also a hefty injection of sax too, which we’re ALL for, in any circumstances.
Written by? All three of ’em and no one else.
More from Hedband? This is actually their debut single. But one half of the duo, Karitas, we featured on these very pages earlier in this very month. Check out ‘All The Things You Said‘.

Bio

Born in Iceland in 1993, Borgar Thorisson became interested in music from a young age. It was not until his late teens, though, that he developed an interest in music production.
Thorisson made his breakthrough in 2014 with a remix of Sunset & Solid Skill's 'Alive' with Cloudland Music with huge success, making it to Markus Schulz's top 10 songs for November 2014. In 2016, Thorisson moved to England which gave his career a boost, seeing him teaming up with singer Molly Bancroft for 'The One For Me', followed by a collaboration with Simon Latham the following year called 'Here We Are', which was premiered by superstar DJ Armin van Buuren in February 2017.
2018 saw Thorisson's music take a dramatic turn, shifting into electronic based pop music with songs like 'New Dawn' and 'One Night', a collaboration with Hedband which earned the producer national airplay in Iceland. His latest release 'Don't Lie to Me' epitomises the producer's current soundscape: '80s nostalgia mixed with modern electro pop.
