"Three/\Sides premiere perfect summer anthem with 'IIPA'"

The four-piece group that comprises three/\sides reflects their belief that there are more options to different situations, and that they're can be a better solution. Bandmates PJ, Alex and Mark all went to school (college) together, and upon graduating, decided to form a rock band, and after writing songs for over a year, they added their longtime friend, Matt Villa, to the mix.

After releasing a single and an EP, three/\sides decided to constantly gig, and they even played several hot spots in Hollywood and Los Angeles, and made good friends along the way. They formed relationships with event coordinators, like the Westlake Brewsic Fest, which was hosted by three/\sides, and offered two stages and sixteen different musical groups. The event held over 300 in attendance with an exceptional response.

With the positive reception to the band, this has catapulted the band to pursue their music passionately, the band spends hours jamming, writing music, learning more about music and the industry.

The band is sharing an exclusive first-listen to their new single, "IIPA." The band tells AXS that "we’ve been experimenting and recording demo versions of "IIPA" since 2014. We had some lyrics about enjoying a day at the beach with a girl and realized relationships rise and fall like the tide. Our new life experience helped us transpose the song differently and better reflect our outlook on life. In 2017, we teamed up with engineers/producers Mike Kloster and Austin Linkous to create a version that will make you want to raise a toast." Here's a toast to the perfect summer single, indeed. - AXS

"three/\sides Release crisp & refreshing new single “IIPA”"

Since releasing their debut EP in early 2017, California indie-rock band three/\sides are releasing their new single “IIPA” on AXS. After working on the single since 2014, the band perfected the finishing touches to create the bold lyrical story.
The song, which is also premiering with a band-brewed Double IPA beer, started off about a day on the beach with a girl, but through many thought processes, three/\sides “realized relationship are sour and decided to change the lyrics. It’s a pleasantly bitter song- just like a Double IPA beer.”
Currently writing new songs to complete their first album, three/\sides is set to open for Strawberry Alarm Clock at Whisky A GoGo on July 22nd in Hollywood, CA. - Vents Magazine

"Interview with three/\sides – IIPA"

With a passion for classic, psychedelic, surf rock and early disco; three/\sides delivers a creative blend of soundscape and songwriting.

In this interview spotlight, we chat with members of three/\sides to discuss influences, their latest project, challenges as indie musicians and much more.

Full Q&A along with links and streams below.

Let’s dive a little deeper into three/\sides, the band, and your music. What attracted you to this genre and style?

We grew up listening to great rock bands with our parents, though we love about every kind of music, we all just seemed to gel the best with psych rock and surf rock. Most of the modern bands we listen to now incorporate some classic rock flavors and we figured, hey, lets create a style we connect the best with.

How long have you been creating and sharing your music with the public?

We started releasing demos in 2014 but we really started to hit our stride in 2016.

Who or what influences your playing and writing? Also, what motivates you to keep going?

Dogs on Animals by Pink Floyd is really when we all looked at each other and said “we have to start making great music like this again.” A lot of it is drawn from concerts we’ve been to as well. The ability some of these artists have to move a crowd is truly inspiring to us.

Networking and hanging around other people who enjoy music (musicians or not) is the absolute best. It’s like going to a party where everyone is your friend. We love taking peoples minds off the everyday nonsense and focus it on having a fun time, which is a huge motivator for our group. Plus we’re in a band with our best friends, which is awesome.

Were you trying to accomplish anything specific with “IIPA”? Creatively or otherwise?

As mentioned before, we’ve been releasing demos since 2014 (one of them being a very rough version of IIPA). The lyrics were kind of finished but as we grew so did the song. It’s a song about not overthinking life and enjoying the moment in front of your eyes. If you’re focused on the negative you’ll never notice how awesome the things right in front of you are.

What was the last song you listened to?

I believe it was Legends by Drug Cabin

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?

We prefer that you listen to our music anyway you can. We want to spread our music to everyone and give an epic performance.

How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Band camp? Or something else? Why?

They’re all pretty cool and have their ups and downs. If you have a way of hearing our music, that works for us - Middle Tennesse Music

"Cali Based Rockers three/\sides Release Crisp & Refreshing New Single "IIPA""

From the golden state of California comes the warm and inviting sounds of three/\sides, who have released their brand new single titled "IIPA". The band's sound is refreshing and effervescent indie rock that is transposed and stamped with the love and affection from Cali. I was blown away from the first note from these guys, and they have a very pleasant and easy going way about them that is easy to see why people fall head over heels with these rad dudes. The band's sound incorporates elements from the band's own personal archives, but injects it with some Cali bred spirit that is explosive when you first listen to it, and really makes you appreciate and fall in love with the gents that much more. I had so much fun listening to these guys as they really bring about a enthusiasm and excitement about them that is shifting alot of eyeballs right in their general vicinity. These guys really bring about the best in everyone they come in contact with, and it's only a matter of time before they do the same to you as they have to me.

To have a listen to "IIPA" for yourself, it's up on their Soundcloud page right here, and for more on the delightful fellas in three/\sides, 'Like' them on Facebook via this perch here and check out their official homepage at this spot here for more in depth info surrounding them. - Music Box Pete

"FOXTRAX headlines their first Roxy Theatre performance with new unreleased tracks"

The openers this night also proved to be well known by Los Angeles locals; the Roxy seemed to be at almost full capacity by the time the second opener graced the stage, with friends of band members scattered all around in groups. Three/\ Sides is an indie psychedelic rock band with its roots in California, along with Orange County based Americana rock band The Brevet. The two bands warmed the crowd up wonderfully for FOXTRAX, and in a style all their own. Three/\Sides brought the groove, even when singer and guitarist Mark Cross had difficulty onstage changing guitars for the next song. This proved though to be endearing, leaving everyone smiling and laughing with Cross. The Brevet was truly rock and roll with a raw energy that takes the audience on a journey all their own. - Ellenwood

Bio

With a passion for psychedelic surf rock and early disco, three/\sides
deliver a unique blend of soundscape and songwriting. You may be asking
yourself...three/\sides of what? The answer, my friend, is up to you to
decide. Maybe you can't be right or wrong, going left or right, but
rather choosing the third option. When Mark Cross, PJ Lombardo, Matt
Villa and Alex Nelson were done with school and uninterested in taking
the 9-5 route , they decided to follow their passion and create original
rock music. This lineup gigs frequently and spends countless hours
creating unique sounds and songs in their studio with friends and other
musicians.
