"Threesome -S/T EP [2010]"

1.First Wave
2.Snow Surf
3.Wahine

So who's up for a Threesome, Serbian style?
All right put down your hands folks, and get your minds out of the gutter, geez! Okay so I baited you in for that one didn't I ?
As you've probably already noticed I have a obsession with bands that sound like Man Or Astro-Man? right? Well Serbia's very first surf band does exactly that.I discovered this band while doing my weekly Man Or Astro-Man? YouTube searches looking for new footage .Low,and behold I stumble upon the newly formed Threesome performing their amazingly thunderous surf slammer "First Wave" at a very well attended concert festival in Belgrade,Serbia. At first I thought they must be a one trick pony, but with further investigation it turns out this trio musicians have several tricks up their sleeve. For one they do in fact have more than three songs in their repertoire so to speak. The live video below shows just that. What really stood out was female drummer Jovana Petrovic attack, and style which resembles Birdstuff of MoAM? Don't get me wrong Guitarist Uros Milkic ,and Bassist Peter Zivic hold their own as talented musicians. The band is hard at work recording the full length album which I have no doubt will impress all their new found fans.I encourage you to send the band a message of encouragement if you like them, and I know you will. - rock is dead blog

"Surfin’ Serbs"

Threesome, Threesome EP (SuperSizeShe)

“Haven’t you heard?…The bird is the word.” Despite “Surfin’ Bird” being a classic example of surf rock and a great song, to boot, I cringe every time I hear its catch phrase (Thanks, Seth MacFarlane). But in the case of Serbian surf rock trio Threesome and its eponymous EP, the bird is the word. And it’s a big damn bird. With talons!

The double entendre in Threesome’s moniker (the band is a trio, you’ll recall) reminds of a time when rock & roll was dangerous, when an instrumental song could be banned from the radio. Its name alone gives the band rock & roll credibility before a note ever eddies into your ear. When “First Wave” crashes with trebly vibrato and a barrage of snare, the tide of 21st century surf has rolled in.

This isn’t your parents’ or grandparents’ “Pipeline.” The sound of quintessential surf instrumentals are supercharged with breakneck tempos and slick production on the EP’s three original tunes. When I heard members of metal mainstreamers Mastodon had a surf rock off-shoot (Fiend Without a Face), I imagined it would sound like Threesome. It doesn’t, but the assumption is telling: Threesome’s surf rock is a heavy, roiling thing, less laid-back longboarding than big-wave deathwish. The reverb-doused guitar melodies don’t rollick; they cauterize. The drums don’t just carve a backbeat; they antagonize. The dreamy guitar harmonics that open the third and final track, “Wahine,” forebode more than lull and threaten a return to the assault found on previous cuts. It eventually does. Threesome never loses the sense of an imminent wipeout. I’m picking up sinister vibrations.

If Threesome soundtracked a movie, it’d probably be the greatest beach party film ever. Beach Party Massacre IV or something to that effect. Too bad there are no beaches in landlocked Serbia. - http://fracture-compound.com/

Bio

Threesome is a sound of explosive surf punk that don't care much about time or place. It began as a common denominator of three persons whose involvement in the independent music scene goes several years back. What started as just listening to bands such as ventures, Dick Dale and The Deltones, Slacktone, Man or Astroman?, The Bambi Molesters, ended up with forming a band that gives its vision of what surf rock should sound today.
