Three Star Seed to Play at Official Sum 41 Concert After Party

Up-and-coming alternative funk rock band Three Star Seed are rocking with the best of them. After opening for Juno Award nominated group State of Shock during Canadian Music Week, Three Star Seed was handpicked by Sum 41 to be the only band to perform at their official concert after party. On Wednesday, March 19th, 2008, Sum 41, possibly joined by close friends including Avril Lavigne, Billy Talent, Social Code, Die Mannequin and Finger 11, will be rocking out to the sounds of Three Star Seed.

Sal ‘Coz’ Costa (lead guitarist and vocals), Micky (bassist and synth) and Mike P. (drums) are the three talented musicians of Three Star Seed. Since the New Year and the launch of their latest self-titled EP, hits on Three Star Seed’s MySpace page have been growing steadily. Their online success and interest has put Three Star Seed in the category of the top 100 Canadian Left to right, Micky, Sal and Mike P. of Three Star Seed unsigned MySpace artists and the single “Run With Me” was recently played on a Dutch/Belgium radio station that showcases MySpace talents. This success has also been achieved on stage having opened for See Spot Run in October, Brown Brigade in December and most recently State of Shock in March.

As talented musicians and rising stars, the boys of Three Star Seed have been approached for a number of endorsement deals including Halo Guitars. In 2007 and 2008 Halo guitars flew Three Star Seed to Los Angeles to be a part of the NAMM (an international music production association) trade show. Their second time in L.A. for this tradeshow, Three Star Seed had the opportunity to learn and hang out with some of their fellow musicians and idols including Sal and Mike P. of Three Star Seed with Benji Madden

THREE STAR SEED SET TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM
Paleo Pornstar available this spring

Up and coming Canadian band Three Star Seed is set to release their second album, Paleo Pornstar, this spring. The three man band includes Sal ‘Coz’ Costa (lead guitar and vocals), Micky (bass and synth) and Mike P. (drums).

Founding members Coz and Micky have been forging a career in music since their teens. They formed Vanity Falls in 2005 and released their debut album which attracted considerable industry attention but the demise of their drummer – he didn’t die, he just left the band – derailed the momentum.

Mike P., ex drummer for Mavis Drive, joined in 2007 and the band began writing again. Paleo Pornstar, the follow up to the bands self titled EP, was produced and mixed by Darren Grahn who has worked with Nickelback, Metallica, Motley Crue and Bon Jovi. The five song EP was recorded in Vancouver at The Warehouse, Mushroom and Hipposonic Studios. This is the second collaboration with Grahn who also produced the Vanity Falls album.

Three Star Seed’s hard driving rock sound has been building a loyal following across Ontario and beyond. The band’s popular myspace site has attracted over 350,000 plays. Opening for bands like State of Shock, Thornley, Tickle Me Pink and See Spot Run had generated increased attention in the band. Three Star Seed was also chosen as the only band to play Sum 41’s exclusive after party when they appeared in their home town, Ajax, Ontario.

The band has been signed by Black Swann Entertainment, a new label with a focus on developing promising new artists. Created by Audrey Hyams Romoff, President of Toronto-based public relations agency OverCat Communications, the label takes a comprehensive approach to promoting and marketing bands.

Dopo i Jet Black Stare ecco un altro gruppo canadese su cui puntare senza riserve. Anche in questo caso ci muoviamo in territori alternative con un'accentuata propensione verso il rock melodico e le produzioni moderne. A dimostrazione del valore del gruppo troviamo in console Darren Grahn in passato al fianco dei Metallica e la resa sonora delle cinque canzoni che compongono questo mini è uno dei punti di forza della release. Soprattutto i cori sono perfettamente funzionali all'obiettivo principale che è quello di ritagliarsi spazio nelle radio che contano. Le qualità espressive della voce di Sal 'Coz' Costa emergono fin dai primi secondi con 'I'm On Fire' un singolo che farebbe comodo a tanti gruppi di successo in crisi di creatività. Semplice, efficace, la canzone arriva diritta al cuore e rimane in testa per giorni. 'Cross The Line' e 'Run With Me' non sono da meno con linee melodiche di spessore e dinamiche capaci di intrigare anche se non viene inventato niente. Con lo scorrere dei brani si notano infatti similitudini con band quali Buckcherry e Stone Temple Pilots ma tale fattore non diviene mai predominante evitando quindi di pregiudicare l'ascolto. 'Caroline' e 'Who' completano l'opera confermando le doti di una band che ha tutto per sfondare oltre oceano considerate le esigenze delle classifiche di oggi.

They look like rock stars, sound like rock stars, now the only thing left to do is become full fledged “Rock Stars”. Toronto, Ontario’s Three Star Seed are trying their damndest with the release of this five song EP.

You’re easily going to want to hear more from these guys after hearing “Paleo Pornstar”. Here we have some grunge rock mixed with some pure rock and alternative vibes and great hooks; most notably in that category is the song “Run With Me”. I have had that song stuck in my head for days thanks to the songwriting of Sal Coz Costa. Each song is a winner on this CD but my favorites have to be the opener “I’m On Fire”, “Run With Me” and “Who”(This one has a lot of depth and sounds great. The entire band steps up and shows exactly what they can do here).

The only fault I could hear is that the guys may have played things a little too safe with this release. The songs are catchy, and radio friendly but do they really stand out? That is a matter of opinion and I am one of those who think they do a great job of being heard in the slew of CD’s being released. Three Star Seed is another Canadian rock band that is just begging to be heard.
