Bio

Threshold is a band of both new beginings and veteran history. In early 2003 two sets of songwriters came together to forge a new sound, unique but still accessable. Will McCartney (guitar) and Ross McCartney (bass) had spent the 1990's trying to update a Rush / Iron Maiden / Tool sound against a sea of grunge and nu-metal, while Neil Bernstein (vocals) was trying to find his voice in an alternative world. In the late 1990's Neil jioned up with Colin Brown (drums) in a songwriting venture and by 2002 they were looking for a full band. That summer Will had just left the hard-charging and progressive Boneshaker and was looking for a new direction, while Ross had stepped back from music. Will, Ross and Neil were old friends, after a fateful jam night, a new partnership was found.
The band was originally called Hunker Down..The four experimented with different styles and settled on a very heavy but acoustic sound of dynamic and melodic songs and built up a small following on the local showcase circuit. As the songs developed and came together the limitations of an all acoustic set became evident. Will set an electric guitar track to a demo of "Immortal Realm", the band was encouraged by friends and fellow musicians to go all out. Their introspective reassessment fulfilled, the band explored their new, hard and aggressive direction. In late 2005 a decision was made to entrust their music to Tim Neuhaus at Earart Studios. Fresh off a brand new 2006 recording session, the result has been a blistering, dynamic and melodic new set of music.
The new sound insisted on a brand new name. Threshold was born, embracing the old but forging anew.
